Applied Improvisation and Product Design
Applying improvisation to communication, teamwork and leadership has received a lot of business press lately. Improvisation principles can also be used in marketing areas including product design and usability. Join me Oct 23rd when we chat to Jessie Shternshus, a fellow Applied Improv Network member, about how improv principles can improve design.
As the founder and owner of The IMPROV EFFECT, Jessie weds her lifelong passion for and expertise in applied improvisation with the fast paced demands of the corporate world. In her classes she helps people become better listeners, team players, leaders, and communicators. Her physically engaging and playful workshops are relevant to all fields of life; participants of her workshops vary from college professors to engineers and from web developers to lawyers. Jessie gained her formal education at USF and NYU. Throughout her career she has worked with Fortune 500 companies and companies such as CBS, Johnson & Johnson, Expedia, Getty Images and Celgene.

Episode 171 “Craptastic”
John juggles weapons while playing Words with Friends and delivers a movie review of “Time After Time”. Marc reveals an unfortunate surprise homeless guest, the duo discusses how they’ll spend imaginary $425 Million lottery winnings, and a new improv game “Dramatic Pause” brings excitement to band-aids and watermelon-cutting. Special guest Hollywood character actor Spencer Garrett (Star Trek, House of Cards, Air Force One, Aquarius, Satisfaction, Mad Men, etc.) talks movies, TV, widgets, why he enjoys character acting, Gene Hackman’s nuanced acting, the importance of theater, his famous mother, acting choices, business advice to actors, who makes him star-struck, and a hilarious story about Christopher Walken, Italy and an alligator—plus he searches for Walken in a film-noir styled round of “Dramatic Pause”!
Once again we will have Daniel Mentz with us and we'll be chatting about how to harvest your humor and bring some laughter into your lives. Humor is a great tool for the professional speaker and it's also a valuable tool for anyone in the business world. Humor breaks through the tension barrier, puts people at ease, develops a more creative and relaxed environment and increases productivity. Humor also always boosts morale and develops enthusiasm. Plenty of good reasons to learn how to be funny.
If you have a funny story to share, please share and we'll share it live on air.

This show is for the artist. Duh! Because I am one. But I recently had a long conversation with couple artist and we were discussing the preparation for a "feature" or showcase. What's going on in one's mind when thinking of what to do or how they are going to deliver. I know my emotions and thoughts are all over the place. I want to hear what goes on in your head and how do you deal. What methods do you use to make sure your set goes well.
