Cathy Harris will provide a 30 minute mini-seminar on importing and exporting. As a former Senior U.S. Customs Inspector (now called Customs and Border Protection (www.CBP.gov) Officer) and former Customs Whistleblower “The Cathy Harris Story” (www.TheCathyHarrisStory.com), I spent most of my 20 year career working on the Trade Enforcement Team (TET) (or Fraud Team) at U.S. Customs. I understand exactly how the importing process works and is available to give classes and
Voters, put your eyes on the 2014 election. Don't lose perspective. Yes, so many things in this country aint working but the blame is with the GOP. The GOP is dividing America with hate speech to their base. Don't allow the lies of the ALEC paid media, politicians, journalist to distract the goals that will put Americans back on jobs with higher wages than ever before. Keep your focus citizens / voters. Just as politicians are keeping their focus on their careers and their children futures and not today's needs of citizens nor the needs of the children today nor tomorrow. Occupy WallStreet is not corporate funded as is the T-Party. But don't forget, here in America, it is still one person one vote. We the people can find solutions by joining forces with already formed Occupy WallStreet, of by forming our own conglomorates using the formate already formed by Occupy WallStreet. Let's come together lets establish the greatest people's movement of our time. The things in this country that aint working is because a group of corrupt millionaires and billionaires have joined forces with the GOP and formed conglomorates against we the people.
Robert W Applegate (Bob) was born at a very young age to parents Frank and Doris Applegate of New Jersey in 1945. At about 6 months of age, being a Navy brat, he was brought to California, where he has since resided. Living in a coastal community of Pacific Beach, at approx age 5 he caught his first snake. It was snakes and lizards from that time on. At age 10 when the family bought a house and moved to El Cajon Bob had a collection of a few snakes and lizards. But that is when he had his first room alone, and soon the walls and any open space had a cage with some sort of herp. Not allowed to keep venomous, Bob caught his first rattlesnake at age 12, and kept it and others coming at a later date, hidden in nearby fields. In Junior High Bob decided the local stuff was not exciting enough anymore, so he started collecting on a large scale and trading with dealers or selling to dealers and using the cash to purchase what he wanted (ie the first Boas, pythons, etc). I suppose you could say that is when he became commercial in a small way.
Things continued this way until a graduation from High school and a marriage to his high school sweetheart. His daughter Michelle was born within a year. For about 6 years the reptiles were second to family considerations, but for a short time he shared rent with an animal importer and dabbled in importing herps from a small shop near Lakeside. At age 21, after being a door to door salesman, he landed a job on the fire Dept. In 1970 he bought his first home, a 3 bedroom house in El Cajon, and left apartment life forever (He hopes!). Soon the garage was a snake room and there was a concrete block snake pit in the back yard. Both commercial collecting and import/exporting became significant additions to the family income.
Grover Norquist, Grover Norquist, Grover Norquist. Litigation! Regulations! Taxation! Here lies all the problems of the corruption in America today. It began with the Republican political party in 1973. The political party, known as the GOP includes, Politicians, CEOs, Media, people seeking fame and fortune, and low information voters. They all disregard truths to gain successes and look good in the moment by telling any lie necessary. Just as elections have consequences, all these GOP lies have consequences.
Congress has been blocking bills since the election of President Obama. I recall someone in the media making this statement: Why does the President keep sending through bills he know will not pass.
Let me be the first to answer that question. President Obama was writing bills of different variations with hopes of eventually seeing politicians coming together with a reason they could relate to and vote for US via the jobs bills
PBO jobs bills began in 2009 and the blocking of jobs bills began Jan 20, 2009, first by way of a verbal agreement and has continued. Dispite the GOP negative actions, the actions of the President's administration has resulted in a US Stock Market hitting an all time high in profit margin levels. With money flowing like the rivers, Company owners are storing $Trillions overseas, CEOs are getting bonuses, Gov't officials are getting bonuses, and the middleclass working force is disappearing. Poverty is growing and for the first time ever people of all persuasions are unifying in issue based situations and are more fired up than in the 2008 presidential election. Congress blocks bills, based on instructions of ALEC (The American Legislative Exchange Council) and lock out of US workers continues, outsourcing continues, importing workers continues and poverty continues to grow across America.
The whining of the wealthy is sickening and infectious. They are contributing doom and gloom across America. Wealthy whiners are bringing down morale and they are angering people who only seek better opportunities, like you and me. We will fix the problems we face when we the people join our heads together, and work out strategies and enact plans across America based on issues that benefits 100% of America and not just the wealthiest 2%. All for one and one for all.
Evil prevails when good people fail to act ~ Edmond Burke
Consumers can walk into any wine shop and browse among the rows of bottles that are filled with wonderful wines. Simple!
Not really....getting the wine from foreign countries into the US market is a complicated matter that takes a lot of effort on the part of wineries and on the part of importers.
Cave Nil Vino will co-host author Deborah M. Gray of Bluestone Wine Solutions. Deborah has been importing wine into the US for approximately 20 years and has recently published one of the first authoritative books on wine importing called "How to Import Wine: An Insider's Guide"
The illegal drug business is a billion dollar industry, involving countries near and far in the importing and distribution of substances that alter the brain chemistry of those indulging in their use. Just like in the alcohol industry, many individuals became wealthy by knowing how to grow the crops and process the intoxicating substance themselves and sell it on the underground market. Then the government, realizing the tremendous amount of money to be made, ended the prohibition of alcohol and began issuing licenses, for a fee of course, for those wishing to manufacture and distribute it. They put a government seal on the bottle and charged sales tax for it. The sale of alcohol, or liquor, became a legitimate business. Now, with the legalization of marijuana also comes government regulations as to who may grow the crops that produce the drugs, who may process, package and sell the drugs and even who may legally buy the drugs. "Medicinal marijuana" can be taxed and therefore generate revenue for the government. But other drugs, not yet declared "legal" or acknowleged for their medicinal value, are stil being sold in the underground economy. Across the world lands are being seized and wars are being fought over the ownership and control of land where crops are grown that are processed into drugs and placed on the world market. The issue is really about control of the billion dollar drug business. Is the U.S. government taking over the illegal drug business? Jamie Sevier, community activist and C.E.O. of People Realizing Ourselves (PRO) examines the ties between the loss of vocational schools, the distribution of drugs in the urban community, and the growth of the prison industry, all while the government seizes property previously owned by growers of plants used for drugs. Legal consultant Warren Houston, an associate with the company Kannaway, discusses how marijuana legalization creates new business opportunities.
