The last 30 years of Immuno-Oncology research have provided strong evidence that tumors do recognize the immune system and their development can be stopped or controlled long term.
Given the impressive survival data over the past five years, it is not surprising that Immuno-Oncology is arguably the most exciting area in the advancement of science and patient care today. However, with all research, there are plenty of challenges and to get a better understanding of this innovative approach to cancer research, we are pleased to welcome to the program, James Gulley, MD, PhD of the National Cancer Institute and Roy Baynes, MD, PhD at Merck Research Labs. Joining Drs Gulley and Baynes is Kate Woda, Director of the IO360 conference taking place at Columbia University Faculty House on June 29-30 in NYC.

Deb Maskens was diagnosed at the age of 14 with papillary renal cell carcinoma. Now with adult children of her own, she has been living most of her life on one clinical trial or another, working to control the growth of tumors and to maintain her quality of life. She helped to form Kidney Cancer Canada, and the International Kidney Cancer Coalition (IKCC), sharing her experience and knowledge with other kidney cancer patients around the world.
In September 2015 she attended the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) meeting in Vienna and filed this report, which Joyce and Robin will be discussing with her.
In addition, she is part of a team at the International Kidney Cancer Coalition which has recently opened an informational website on Immuno-Oncology. Hopes are high for this new angle on controlling cancer, but how much of the hype is yet real?

In this episode of Pharma Talk Radio, we feature medical oncologist, Dr Anna Pavlick, Director of the Melanoma Program at the NYU Cancer Institute on Safety Elements of Cancer Immunotherapies. Dr Pavlick originally gave this presentation in June 2015 at the IO360 conference. Her talk focuses on immune related adverse affects of immuno therapy. More specifically, she covers:
• Identifying warning signs and low threshold for workup and treatment
• Understanding “pseudoprogression” before response, delayed toxicities
• Reporting and assessing adverse effects during clinical trial phases
• How to predict safety concerns when moving from animal models to human trials
We are pleased to bring this session to the public to help researchers, doctors, patients and care givers with some information on immune related adverse affects of immuno therapy. Please note that Dr Pavlick does occassionally refer to slides which are not included in the recording of this session.
Anna Pavlick, DO, MD is the Director of the NYU Cancer Institute Melanoma Research Program. After finishing her studies at University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey, School of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr Pavlick completed her residency in internal medicine and her fellowship in hematology/oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. In 1999, she went on to become the Director of Clinical Oncology at UMDNJ in New Jersey before coming to NYU.

Vitamins and supplements are a billion dollar industry. Do you know what to look for when selecting a product for you? Do you know what you don't want in your product? Why not?
My guest will be Mark Mueller, the founder of Botanic Innovations and Immuno-Viva. Immuno-Viva products are natural supplements that have all encompassing immune support. They supply Essential Fatty Acids AND extensive antioxidant activity AND phytosterols.
Yes, I know what you think... another product! Well, I would beg to differ. I have been taking supplements for over thirty years. Many would make me sick, some never dissolve in my body, some caused allergies and still others were a total waste of money and propaganda.
This product line...... perfect. I will tell you, I have significant allergies and wanted to try the pure oil prior to purchasing. I asked the company for a sample of the oil and used it on my skin for a few days, no rash. I then put a few drops into my drink, no digestive issues. At that time, I started on the Core product. Perfection. I could tell the results immediately. No waiting for weeks or months and spending large amounts of money for a wing and a prayer of working.
The main products are combination products that have items in them which are not randomly selected. All items are complementary and get the wheel going to produce results.
Join us in this discussion and we will share the special processes the company uses and how product selection is made.

Topic - Essential Oils for Spring Allergies
[7:38:15 AM] Marjorie Henry-Lawrence: Millions of people worldwide suffer from allergies. An allergy is an over-reaction of our immune system to certain substances such as dust, pollen, animal hair, synthetic materials, or foods. Allergic reactions can make you feel miserable and ruin your day. They cause all sorts of inflammatory reactions such as itchy rashes, dry patches, headaches, puffy or watery eyes, runny nose, or digestive issues.
Luckily you can use Essential Oil for allergy relief. Essential oils (EO) are nature’s miracle to ease inflammation and work as powerful antihistamine. So no need for synthetic drugs that can do more harm than good to your body. Fortunately there are various essential oils that you can use to treat a wide range of spring allergy symptoms – see the side panel for a comprehensive list that you can choose from. Essential oils that possess the following properties are the most useful, because they treat the various symptoms mentioned above:
Diffuse - Peppermint, lemon and lavender are cleansing oils, so diffusing these oils in your home on a regular basis will help support your respiratory system. Pop Lemon, Lavender and Peppermint – about 4 drops each in the diffuser and let that baby go. If I will be cleaning and releasing a lot of dust into the air, this is my go-to oil blend for the diffuser.
You can also inhale the three directly from the bottle too – this works well if you are out and about.
Topically - You can apply 2-3 drops of each oil and place it directly on the bottoms of your feet or at the back of your neck.

In this episode, Dr. Budweiser, founder and CEO of Weiser Living, will be discussing Vitamin B12 deficiency in more detail, common symptoms and how to reintegrate them into your daily diet.
He will cover the following:
Why is vitamin B12 necessary?
What are the signs of a deficiency?
What natural food Sources contain B12?
Types of B12 - Cyanocobalamin vs Methylcobalamin
Vegans, vegetarians and B12
Common medications that deplete and block absorption of B12
Where to get the best sources of B12 supplements
... and much, much more!

"The Truth about HIV and AIDS in the USA in Black Communities in the USA and Africa" Many of our "Black" population do not know about HIV or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). Black girls in the USA under the age of 25 years old have the highest rate of "newly infected" with Human Immuno-diffidence Virus (HIV).

George Best (22 May 1946 – 25 November 2005) was a professional footballer from Belfast, who most notably played for Manchester United and the Northern Ireland national team. He was a winger whose game combined pace, acceleration, balance, two-footedness, goalscoring and the ability to beat defenders. In 1968, his annus mirabilis, he won the European Cup with Manchester United, and was named the European Footballer of the Year. When fit, he was an automatic choice for Northern Ireland, but he was unable to lead them to World Cup qualification, despite being capped37 times and scoring nine goals.
In his native Northern Ireland, the admiration for him is summed up by the local saying: "Maradona good; Pelé better; George Best."
He was one of the first celebrity footballers, but his extravagant lifestyle led to problems with alcoholism which curtailed his playing career and eventually led to his death in November 2005 at the age of 59. His cause of death was multiple organ failure brought on by a kidney infection, a side effect of the immuno-suppressive drugs he was required to take after a liver transplant. In 2007, GQ named him as one of the 50 most stylish men of the past 50 years.
