A LOOK INTO THE BOOKS OF CORINTHIANS - A Church Divided

    in Spirituality

We will continue our study in examinnig one the most important twin books in the Holy Bible, the books of 1st and 2nd Corinthians.

Now Corinth was a city-state located on an isthmus (a narrow strip of land connecting two larger land areas, usually with water on either side) that joined the Peloponnesus Peninsula (The southern most tip of Greece) to the mainland of Greece.

Because of where Corinth was geographically situated it was a city that was a meeting place of many nationalities and cultures. It served as a trade center between Asia and western Europe.. The city boasted of an outdoor theater that could seat 20,000 people, and often hosted athletic games the rivaled the ancient Olympic Games of Greece itself. It also was the home of the Great Temple of Aphrodite (Aphrodite was the Greek goddess of love). This pagan temple housed over 1,000 prostitutes. The city was known for its corruption and immorality. Their debauchery was so blatant that the phrase, ":to act the Corinthians" meant to practice fornication. Many of the problems, and divisive issues that flowed throughout this city was a direct result of the sin and wickedness that festered in the hearts of the people that lived there.

To this city, Paul first came to preach, in the year A.D. 50, during his second missionary journey. Paul stayed there for nearly two years, preaching and winning many souls to Christ. After leaving, Paul wrote the Corinthian church a letter, which was lost (5:9), but, learning of disturbing news about some believers from other believers (7:1) prompted the apostle to write 1 Corinthians. All of these issues will be addressed and examined, during this indepth study.

Come with us, as we begin to understand the church established in Corinth... a church divided.

LatinoTalk Texas 2015, 0013 Lent, Morality & Growing Immoral Culture

    in Politics

LatinoTalk Texas is news, issues and interviews important to Latinos in America.  Guest Andy Bravo calls in to discuss the issues today. Today, I discuss the vast differences in the Culture of Life and its nemesis, the Culture of Death also known as the Culture of Anti-Life or the Culture of New Morality of Immorality. I introduce this topic as being important in these days of Lent especially for Latinos who are mostly Catholic. Today, I compare the issues of Abortion, Homosexual marriage and euthanasia as being examples of the new morality of immorality. For example, Homosexuality is clearly immoral but by seeking through the courts under the pretense of "Equal Protection under the Law" to nullify enumerable state laws the set the guidelines for the state to sanction marriages the homosexual community hopes to gain such sanctions and make their relationships "normal" and part of a new morality. In other words they have sought to cast anyone who disagrees with them as a bigot and immoral themselves for defend their own moral standings. Thus, I point out the "New Morality of Immorality" which is not unrelated to other machinations of the culture of death or anti-life which also favors abortion on demand and euthanasia. How many cultures have practiced these horrific and immoral behaviors? Nazi Germany, Stalinist Russia, America in the days of the Indian Wars and many more. Today, in America, as I read there are expanding efforts to promote euthanasia which my caller, Andy Bravo mistook for End of Life Palliative care. That is why I discuss these issues so that Latinos in America will be well informed.

THE LETTERS TO THE CORINTHIANS: A CHURCH DIVIDED

    in Spirituality

The Apostle Paul wrote to the church at Corinth because they suffered from division and immorality.

Now Corinth was a city-state located on an isthmus (a narrow strip of land connecting two larger land areas, usually with water on either side) that joined the Peloponnesus Peninsula to the mainland of Greece.

Corinth was noted for everything sinful.

To this city, Paul first came to preach, in the year A.D. 50, during his second missionary journey. Paul stayed there for nearly two years, preaching and winning many souls to Christ. After leaving, Paul wrote the Corinthian church a letter, which was lost (5:9), but disturbing news about some believers from other believers (7:1) prompted the apostle to write 1 Corinthians. Problems there included divisions in the church (1:11), immorality (chapters 5;6:9-20), as well as questions concerning marriage, the role of women in the church, food, worship and the resurrection.

This letter was written from Ephesus (16:8).

Come with us, as we begin to understand the church established in Corinth... a church divided.

Guest: Dr. Robert Jeffress - Countdown to the Apocalypse

    in Christianity

Today our guest is Dr. Robert Jeffress, who is the author of a brand new book called Countdown to Apocalypse: Why ISIS and Ebola Are Just the Beginning.

ISIS. Ebola. Social disorder. Religious persecution. Rampant immorality. Are these the harbingers of the biblical apocalypse, of the end of the world? If they are, what do they mean and when can we expect this to happen? In this eye-opening book, prophecy insider Robert Jeffress offers a reasoned look at these "signs" and what Jesus Christ himself meant when he talked about a future so horrendous that no human lives would be spared "unless those days were shortened" (Matthew 24.22). Did He have our time in mind? All over the world people are aware that something unprecedented in human history is about to happen. COUNTDOWN TO THE APOCALYPSE presents vital information that everyone, both inside and outside the church, needs to know to be prepared. We'll also look at the news of the day!

Today's episode is sponsored in part by The Chronopticus Chronicles.
