    Destination Health - #23 - We're staying on the No Grain Train and learning more

    I will admit that my comfort food of choice would be a warm loaf of crusty bread (yes the whole loaf) and some cold butter to slather (good word!), watch it melt into all the tiny, delectable holes and enjoy. I did use to do what they say is healthy and use 100% whole grain bread....or swap out my white rice for brown rice....and now what?! We are finding more and more research that the grains - especially what has been done to them through  mass-production may be the root of so many of our health issues. Hop on board the No Gran Train and join us as we delve into this issue a little more.

    Only one in three children are physically active every day. Less than 5% of adults participate in 30 minutes of physical activity each day. Only one in three adults receive the recommended amount of physical activity each week.Only 35 – 44% of adults 75 years or older are physically active, and 28-34% of adults ages 65-74 are physically active .More than 80% of adults do not meet the guidelines for both aerobic and muscle-strengthening activities, and more than 80% of adolescents do not do enough aerobic physical activity to meet the guidelines for youth.

    Create In Me A Clean Heart

    Psalm 51:9-11 says Hide Your face from my sins And blot out all my iniquities. 10Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.…And its a verse of scripture I should pray each day God allows me to rise from my sleep. To both start and end the day with acknowledging to the Lord we constantly and daily need to be purified of our hearts and minds. What does it take for God to clean our hearts? What must we come to an understanding of? First, we must confess we can not clean our hearts through human effort. We need to allow the Holy Spirit to have access to all of our hearts and navigate to those areas we don't want to reveal. Confessing our sin and short comings afterall is no fun. But it does lift a very heavy burden and weight we could not carry ourselves. For without a clean heart how can we worship the Lord in spirit and in truth, how can we love others in purity, love and respect, as well as having right attitudes. If left unchecked, we can miss out on Gods very best for us when we don't allow him to continue what he started....a potential masterpiece when we allow him free reign to create in us a clean heart which frees us from the bondage of sin.
