The economic slowdown and tougher deportation policies in the U.S. have decreased the number migrants heading north and the increased return—voluntary or forced—of former immigrants to their countries of origin. In today's show we are looking at this reverse flow and how it presents opportunity as well as, challenge in the lives of three Guatemalans, who decided for different reasons, to return to their home country.

Research on digital natives is fast emerging. Who are Digital Natives? Who are Digital Immigrants?
These terms were coined by Marc Prensky in 2001( From on the Horizon(NCB University Press. Vol. 9 No.5, October 2001) Young Media Critics will talk about “digital natives” and “digital immigrants”.
Students today think and process information much differently from students of yesterday. Join us on Thursday at 5 p.m. and learn more about this phenomena – digital natives and digital immigrants.
Once upon a time there was a real American Dream! It was a wonderful time period. It was something all people wanted to be part of. Then 50 years ago the Civil rights act was passed and the American Dream disappeared from the goals of the everyday citizen in America.
Civil rights in essence said leave no dreamer behind. And so the goals of Americans changed. The American dream no longer was an American dream. It was now a given for some and a nightmare for other.
All citizens want the best for our nation. We vote our wants when we elect leaders to work to bring forth prosperity for all Americans. We are not good at voting for leaders who believe all people are created equally.
Today's issues and ideologies take priority over groups of people. We have to search for leaders who are reflective of a best America. Gun violence resulting in deaths of innocent children aint the way to prosperity. No jobs and no health care aint the way to prosperity. Blocking bills for Veterans services aint the way to prospeity. The way to prosperity is the best Politicians; Educators; Journalist; Clergy; and even the best Chief Executive Officers. Identify the best and remove the rest through organized protest.
How do we organize and protest you ask? Join truth based groups that already exist and that have the same beliefs as you. Do not tolerate groups who hate and without the hate there is no cause.
The American Dream continues to live only if believe and if we can see the fruits of our works. America was founded on Christianity. Americans are descendants of the stolen, the undocumented, immigrants, native born, and original inhabitants. All these different heritages is the strength of the American dream.
Althea Romeo-Mark, the Author, Educator, Poet, and World Traveler, is so much more. To those titles, one can add wife, mother, grandmother, and much more. In a capsule, Althea is a people-person, whether family, friends, or strangers (friends she hasn't gotten to know yet). Born in Antigua, West Indies, Althea grew up in the US Virgin Islands. She is an educator who lived in the USA; Liberia, West Africa; London, England and presently lives in Switzerland. She has published short stories and poems in the Virgin Islands (The Caribbean Writer), Liberia, Puerto Rico, the USA, Germany, Norway, England, and Switzerland. Althea's work vividly depicts the phases of her life as an immigrant and her cultural experience in her book; her poems are interwoven into a personal essay, A Home with Endless Space. It contemplates the meaning of home as she comes from a line of immigrants and was born on a Caribbean Island, raised on another, did her graduate studies in the USA, then moved to Liberia, West Africa, where she lived for 14 years. Childhood Immigrants who are clueless about their status. There are many children who came into the country illegally. They were raised here to the point where they think they were born here because they have no recollection of being anywhere else. They do not have a birth certificate or any documentation. Some of them have been estranged from their biological parents because they came here to strangers or relatives who do not even have contact with the biological parents any more. They cannot get legal immigration status because they have no proper documents verifying identity. Some have even been given other people's documents to use to go to school etc. Now they are adults, there is no mechanisms in place to get legal status. A lost generation?
Join hosts Tom Riddell and Robin Eduardo as they welcome author PS Bartlett to The Writers Lounge. Sit back and relax as Peggy discusses what it's like to be a writer and she will also talk to us about her book: Fireflies.
However peculiar Ennis Whelan has been for the first six years of his life, not until the day he found the bird, did the degree of his strangeness become so tangible.
Dr. Owen Whelan and his wife Sarah, both Irish immigrants, have been living the American dream, as well as raising seven bright and expressive children. Their youngest Ennis, however, has since birth, been a bit of a mystery. Ennis was always small, meek and frightfully odd but there is so much more to him than anyone could have imagined. His sister Teagan grows increasingly suspicious of his behavior but their mother dismisses her claims, until the day he starts healing people. When Ennis ultimately reveals the gift of sight, he questions his father about visions of his past, including his voyage to America in 1844. Owen prayed he'd never have to share those tragic memories but he will share them, when he realizes he has no choice. Ennis' life may depend on it.

We are now living under the most corrupt and criminal regime (it is certainly not an administration) in United States history. We have had criminal and incompetent presidents before, but past history pales in comparison to the current Chicago street thug (aka "community organizer") presently occupying the White House. The apparently self-proclaimed Emperor of the United States and his family spare no expense to live the good life while everyone else suffers. Obama commits one impeachable offense after another, confident that there will be no move to impeach him.
On tonight's agenda:
The website healthcare.gov continues to sputter. Can they do anything right? Is it incompetence, or was it intentional. at any rate, the system is a hacker's dream. The government shutdown is over--for now. Did anyone win? It appears that the debt ceiling no longer exists, and the national debt took a sudden jump. What kind of creative accounting are they using? While all of this is going on, amnesty for illegal immigrants is still in the works. Chase bank has put limits on cash transactions and overseas wire transfers. Is this a harbinger of full scale currency controls prior to the end of the dollor? This is your show. Let's have some calls. Where will this end? What do you think? Call in to express your views:
