The Gist of Freedom welcomes Ida B. Wells: Warrior For Justice presented by Safiya Bandele! "The Review of Reviews announced that Wells, “a talented and resolute young lady of colour”, was on a pilgrimage around the British Isles to campaign on the subject of Negro lynching; they also published these Sadistic Statistics, "in 1893, excluding Sundays, a Coloured man was lynched every day from January to December." I had bought a pistol the first thing after Tom Moss was lynched, because I expected some cowardly retaliation from the lynchers. I felt that one had better die fighting against injustice than to die like a dog or a rat in a trap… I felt if I could take one lyncher with me, this would even up the score a little bit!

Tonight on Human Rights for Prisoners March, we will discuss our response to a possibly unfavorable decision by Ferguson's grand jury. Join the March at 12 midnight, EST. Call (818) 572-2947. The only reasonable response to a decision not to indict Wilson is to Boycott 4 Justice. Persons who are determined to do in-person demonstrations should only protest on the street level at malls. Avoid being corralled into expected areas where you can be easily attacked. Money, money, money is the key to oppressors' hearts. Inspire in them a new love for justice. See these articles:

The Grand Jury has deliberated, the decision has been made, yet people still cry for justice. So we ask ourselves what is justice? Is it the political indictment of a man or the lynching of an innocent? The events that followed the announcement of the Grand Jury were filled with tear gas, gun fire, burning and looting; so someone please tell me how destroying the livelihood of your community brings justice.
We mourn the loss of a child, a parent, a community a police department and even an officer, must live with the events that fomented these events but at what point do we look at the root causes of the matter and change them? Is it the income disparity, the broken families, the lack of education or simply the color of ones skin that matters; or all of these? I for one would like to know, I would also like to know where we go next.
Join me for a no holds barred review of the events and people that make our world the place it is. Have you been holding it in? Wouldn't you like to put things in place?

"[T]he [Ferguson] grand jury resisted the mammoth political pressure to indict strictly to assuage racial grievances, instead opting to follow the evidence. When it comes to justice, that is as much as any American can hope for"; "“I’d already taken two to the face, and . . . the third one could be fatal if he hit me right”; Does the Fifth Amendment grand-jury protection still matter?; The issue in Ferguson is whether there is objective truth, or just relative judgments; The Democrats should hold their 2016 convention in Detroit; Obama’s coalition is held together only by his personal mythography - and even that isn't working anymore.
