    Former Illinois RB Carey Davis

    in Football

Former Illinois running back/fullback Carey Davis joins Joe Lisi on The Weekly Bitz. Davis played from 2000-2003 and caught 114 passes for 751 receiving yards with 5 touchdowns. He also rushed for 1,012 yards and 1 touchdown on the ground.

Davis was a tough hard nosed player that played the game with intensity and heart. Davis had a blue collar attitude that epitomized the Illini team. Davis played special teams and did the "dirty" work between the tackles. He was an outstanding blocker and utilized in the passing game because of his pass catching ability. Davis was an all-around back that was the ultimate team player. He played the game with great emotion and played every down with his best effort.

Davis became an undrafted free agent in 2004 and played in the NFL from 2004-2010 winning a Super Bowl with the Pittsburgh Steelers in their victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Tampa Bay.

Irate, Tireless Minority - Guest Raeford Davis for LEAP

    in Politics Conservative

Today's guest is former police officer from South Carolina, Raeford Davis. Mr. Davis contacted me to ask if I would have him on to talk about LEAP(Law Enforcement Against Prohbition)

His bio(edited for length) from the LEAP site.
"I was misguided for participating in the war on drugs and my actions as a cop made things worse."

Raeford Davis served the City of North Charleston police department for six years, including four years as a patrol officer and two as a special victims unit detective. At the time, North Charleston was ranked the 8th most dangerous city in America. Before becoming a police officer, he served in the United States Coast Guard Reserves. He graduated from Charleston Southern University with a B.S. in Criminal Justice.

His perspective changed after patrolling a drug-plagued neighborhood nicknamed “4-Way.” He explains, “Children as young as 10 were recruited by older gang members to openly sell drugs, rob customers, and intimidate local residents. The kids were specifically recruited to sell drugs because they received less punishment if caught. As soon as I locked up one of these dealers, another younger one would take his place.” He realized that as long as gangs could make immense profits selling drugs, they would continue recruiting kids.

Raeford believes that we should legally regulate drugs to stop the violence and victimization of communities.Today, Raeford lives in Charleston. He retired in 2007, after being injured in the line of duty.

Doing my best to help the Lord set the brushfires of freedom in the hearts of men and to restore America, God willing, to the beacon of freedom she was meant to be.

Susan Davis, Physical Therapist for Animals at Joycare Onsite LLC

    in Radio

We already know that Dr. Doolittle was able to converse with animals, and I’m thinking that Susan Davis possesses the same gift. Susan is a NJ Licensed Physical Therapist, and these days her patients are typically 4-legged. The benefits of physical therapy for animals have been widely accepted in the veterinary community for many years, but is a relatively new field in the US. The goal of physical therapy for animals is to improve quality of life and decrease pain -- same as for humans. Although most veterinary practices offering physical therapy are geared toward canines, techniques used in this discipline can also be applied to horses, cats, birds, rabbits, rodents and other small animals. Susan has worked on many types of dogs from an Australian Cattle Dog to a Yorkshire Terrier. Recently she had an opportunity to do some rehab on a large pig (yes, a large pig) and we’ll learn what other animals Susan has helped out with some PT and her magic touch. In 2013, Susan authored and self-published the book Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation for Animals: A Guide for the Consumer, and she also writes guest articles for pet-related blogs on a monthly basis. Some conditions in animals that benefit from PT include arthritis, hip dysplasia, and spinal deformity. Susan will share how she changed focus as a PT and began her healing work with animals. She is a member of the International Association for Veterinary Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy. After the interview, please check After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.
