Critics Rant and Rave about Hugh Jackman

    in Movies

Noted film critics and avid fans rant and rave about the movies of Hugh Jackman.  Former co-host Jazz Shaw and award-winning blogger Fausta Rodriguez share their reactions to films through 2009, followed by a discussion of movies released after 2009 by film historian James Colt Harrison and entertainment journalist Diana Saenger. Although probably known best for his Wolverine role in the X-Men movies, this talented Australian actor boasts numerous films and TV shows to his credit, plus he’s also garnered acclaim for his outstanding performances in stage musicals, even winning a Tony for The Boy from Oz. And don’t forget Jackman’s Emmy -- which he earned for his entertaining turn as host of the Tony Awards. Jackman won additional fans with his rousing stint as host of the Academy Awards in 2009. An Oscar nomination and Golden Globe win for his emotional portrayal of Jean Valjean in Les Misérables have served to increase his popularity. Jackman’s latest role is Blackbeard in Pan, released on October 9, 2015.

BIG PURCHASES AND SPENDING BIG MONEY IS MY TOPIC TODAY ON BLOGTALKRADIO.  Making large purchases like buying a home or a car can be a hugh challenge for a first time buyer and even a second time buyer.  Every time you sign a contract to make a large purchase you must know your responsibilities to fulfill that financial obligation.  Every day unsuspecting consumers sign contracts for large purchases that will require payments as stated on a weekly, monthly or annual basis.  Not making the payment will be an issue.  That issue can follow you for a long time on your credit report.  And, let's face it.  You are your credit report. An example of a big purchase that can follow you for most of your life is a student loan.  College student loans don't just disappear.  They must be paid or forgiven based upon the college student graduating and becoming employed in a sector of society recognized by the student loan forgiveness program.  You are listening to BlogTalkRadio.  I'm Laura Gall.  Thank you for listening.

Stocks Plunge: The World Is Falling Apart? Settle Down; Market Perspective

    in Business News

It is Wednesday January 20, 2016.

Stocks plummeted today.  At one point the Dow was down more than 500-points.

But the market had a slight rally – to close down more than 300.

    Let’s get some perspective.

Our expert here is Hugh Anderson with Hightower Advisors in Las Vegas, an independent financial planning company.

    Hugh, welcome.

As always I send you an email with the subject line – The End of the World.  So should we be worried?

Why is this happening?  Low oil?  China slowing down?  The emerging markets lower?  Or is it more complicated?

I know you won’t get into specific stocks.  But overall, what should be our mindset.  What are you telling your clients?

How do we look at things as investors in the short term?

What about many of us trying to save and plan for retirement.  What should we be thinking?

How much impact will the presidential race have on this market?  Or will it?

A lot of us are hungry for solid information.  Give us some places for folks to go online.
