January Jones - One of Everything-Donna Voss

    in Women

It may be an understatement to describe Donna Voss’s life experience as eclectic.

She is a Berkeley grad, a stay-at-home mom, a former pagan, and a devout Mormon.

Clearly a study in extremes, she is a fifty-something homemaker who loves rap music, outrageously expensive shoes, and people who own their flaws and call her on hers.

She is avoids negotiating the price of anything but will dive into intense interactions, especially if they are about politics and religion. Raised in the shadow of luxury, her favorite vacation is camping. She is an eternal optimist who is endlessly fascinated by the dark side of good people. Anxious to be liked by all, she has written a memoir, One of Everything, that is sure to provoke everyone about something.

Love, Life… and Friends: HOMEMAKER OR A HOME WRECKER?

    in Lifestyle

Today on LOVE, LIFE... AND FRIENDS

Not all of us have led a life of purity. Good girls don’t automatically become someone's wife. Some find themselves as the other woman. And not all Bad girls are BAD! They make up some of the baddest moms and wives that I’m going to write about! (LOL) Speaking from experience, it’s possible for any woman to have the capacity to be both. Generally not at the same time but, if you can imagine it, it can happen. Take for instance, in my SistaGirlz® book series, a couple of the Girlz start out as good girls but their lives take them on twists and turns that flip their world upside down and make a Sista do what a Sista gotta do!

Whether you are a currently or reformed homemaker or home wrecker (or if you're involved with one), we encourage you to call in on Sunday March 10th at our NEW TIME - 4pm CST!! - to discuss the homemaker vs. home wrecker lifestyle. CALL IN and share your thoughts and suggestions! 714.409.0635

10 Things You MUST DoToBeAn Organized Caregiver,byOrganizingExpert,DebbyeCannon

    in Caregiving

In the early 1980’s, I was caring for my 2 children (both under two years old, & in cloth diapers!) and life was absolutely eating me alive! I had the responsibilities of wife, mother, homemaker and I was endeavoring to run a substantial home-based business. I found that although my business was EXPLODING, my home life was IMPLODING! What WAS I thinking?

By late afternoon, when I needed to be preparing dinner, I’d find myself collapsed in my kitchen from low blood sugar, surrounded by my little ones without a CLUE about what I could assemble for dinner. There would be pasta, but no sauce, meat frozen solid and no side dishes in my pantry. My house felt a mess. Laundry was piled high and the floors were so sticky I feared walking through the kitchen!

I decided to create some shortcuts. I created a system for more than just surviving my life. Pretty soon I was actually thriving, and my friends noticed. By popular demand, I began teaching local workshop groups. The Butler family encouraged me to publish my system. The first edition was published in September of 1988, a second printing followed in January 1997 and a third edition in 2006.

Prompted to share my systems and techniques, I have now become the SMARTcut® Expert. I am passionate about helping way past busy entrepreneurs especially Caregivers, who are struggling with the juggling. I hope my work will give you the time and energy to reach more of your personal dreams, serve your family, church and community in ways that really make a difference.

The Real Rosewood Story By Lizzie Robinson Jenkins

    in Sports

    FOUNDING OF ROSEWOOD

Rosewood was established around 1870 in Levy County, Florida on a road leading to Cedar Key and the Gulf of Mexico. It is believed to have taken its name from the abundant red cedar trees that grew in the area. Rosewood prospered as the Florida Railroad established a small depot to handle the transport of cedar wood to the pencil factory in Cedar Key and the transportation of timber, turpentine rosin, citrus, vegetables, and cotton. In 1890, the cedar depleted and many of the white families moved to Sumner, three miles west of Rosewood, and worked at the newfound saw mill established by Cummer & Sons. By 1900, Rosewood had a majority of black citizens.

    ROSEWOOD MASSACRE

On the morning of January 1, 1923, Fannie Coleman Taylor, a white woman and homemaker of Sumner Florida, claimed a black man assaulted her. Although she was not seriously injured and was able to describe what happened, she allegedly remained unconscious for several hours due to the shock of the incident. No one disputed her account and no questions were asked. It was assumed she was reporting the incident accurately.

    POSSE SUMMONED

James Taylor, a foreman at Cummer & Sons saw mill and Fannie Taylor's husband, assembled a vicious mob and ordered tracking dogs. The local white community became enraged at the alleged abuse of a white woman by a black man; it was an unpardonable sin for any black man to gaze upon a white woman and he most certainly could not touch one.

    ASSISTANCE SOUGHT

James Taylor requested help from Levy County and neighboring Alachua County, where a staged Ku Klux Klan celebration was ending on the courthouse square in downtown Gainesville, Florida. A large number of KKK members had been rallying and marching in opposition of justice for black people on December 31, 1922, leading up to the January 1, 1923 Rosewood massacre.

    Heart of A Hebrew Woman

    in Moms and Family

    TITUS 2:4,5

The Heart of a Hebrew Woman is about bringing women together and expanding on the Truth. The Truth begins with understanding our roles as women and gaining a stronger relationship with the Most High. This is a great opportunity for us to create a unique dialogue that will expand our thinking about who we are and where we are going. My goal is not to preach, but to teach about loving yourself, your husband and your children while serving the Most High. In addition, I believe this show will encourage and motivate women throughout the week.

Let us now give praises to the Most High, by thanking him for renewing our minds and instilling a strong foundation of learning The Heart of a Hebrew Woman.

    Shalom,

    Sister Tama
