This Week's Energies Counsel Stillness and Inner Reflection

    in Spirituality

    ADORNING ...

    Fire adorns the mountain.
    The highest standards
    Are quietly revealed.
    Success is achieved without litigation.

    The mountain is still.
It is your symbol for this moment.
The mountain attempts to change nothing,
Yet its form and strength of presence
    Brings awe with no effort.

This is Lana ... and I apologize for Da Coconut Wireless Show's radio silence these past two weeks.  My Dad transitioned June 1st and the shock from his sudden passing took me and my entire family by surprise.  Such events have a way of teaching us the hardest life lessons with undeniable certainty.  My Dad's message to everyone is to reevaluate your relationships because each holds value and weight in your life.  Reinforce your relationships with clear communication and understanding borne of compassion in your Now because we shall not pass this way again on this part of our Journey.

  • Best of the Summer Fancy Food Show with Chef Rachel Weston

    in Radio

Food, glorious food! The recent summer Fancy Food Show in NY is only a memory, and my huge assortment of samples have been eaten or given away. For you foodies who are wondering what’s new in food, listen up. The Specialty Food Association is a community of food artisans, purveyors, importers and entrepreneurs who bring craft, care and joy to the distinctive foods they sell. Established in 1952, the trade association provides members with tools, knowledge and connections to nurture their companies. The Specialty Food Association produces the Fancy Food Show and presents the sofi Awards (big winner was Pipcorn) to honor excellence in specialty foods. The trends at the FFS predict what we’ll find next on store shelves and included the latest of beverages and sauces, chocolates and cheeses, cocktail mixers and condiments from 2,600 specialty food companies representing 50 countries. In its 61st year, there were over 22,000 attendees. We’re seeing more foods that are organic, gluten free, non GMO, Paleo, Kosher, and Halal. Top trends included ultra spicy condiments, flavored gazpachos, beets in unexpected places, booze infused products like maple syrup, booze from the Port Morris Distillery, fermented foods, popcorn, and coconut everywhere. Chef Rachel Weston and I will share some of our favorite foods from the show (Sin in a Tin for me). After the show, please check After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.

Beyond Awakening: How can we embrace the human experience?

    in Spirituality

These days, more than ever before, an intensification of energies is available that compels us to consciously collaborate in waking up out of the dream of separation.  It’s a new frequency that demands our yes, because nothing less will do if we are to successfully survive and thrive, both as individuals and as a species.  This yes has nothing to do with willfulness; it’s not a big shout of “I can do it.”  On the contrary, it’s a profoundly silent yes that chooses to meet life from the luminous wholeness of an inner dimension of consciousness.

Rooted in the stillness of our being-nature, what is so unspiritual about opening to the movement of our life’s journey?  Authentic awakening is not static; it’s a fresh moment-to-moment awareness of that which is unfolding within our direct experience.  And what’s unfolding for so many of us within contemporary culture is an increasing complexity, interconnectivity, and creativity at an exponential rate.  Today we have the opportunity to become so much more than previous generations had ever dreamt of: for most of us, there are more resources, more technologies, more information, and more wisdom available to us.  What is so unspiritual about opening to embrace this evolutionary movement of our becoming-ness?

Let's explore the scenery on this leg of our Journey together in today's session of Da Coconut Wireless show!

    Let's Celebrate Lei Day-May Day Hawai'i Style!

    in Spirituality

In 2001, our Senator, Danial Kahikina Akaka, during a May 1 address, said, " 'May Day is Lei Day' in Hawaii. Lei Day is a nonpolitical and nonpartisan celebration. Indeed, its sole purpose is to engage in random acts of kindness and sharing, and to celebrate the Aloha spirit, that intangible, but palpable, essence which is best exemplified by the hospitality and inclusiveness exhibited by the Native Hawaiians -- Hawaii's indigenous peoples -- to all people of goodwill."

A lei is not just flowers strung on a thread. A lei is a tangible representation of aloha in which symbols of that aloha are carefully sewn or woven together to create a gift. This gift tells a story of the relationship between the giver and the recipient. many things can make up a lei. One can string flowers, seeds, shells, or berries into a lei. One can weave vines and leaves into a lei. Once can weave words into a poem or song, which is then a lei. The ultimate expression of a lei is kamalei - the child which represents the intertwining of aloha between the parents.

Today's program is our Lei Aloha to you for supporting Da Coconut Wireless and assisting us to Spread The Aloha around our World!  Hoihoi na Aloha Mele ... enjoy the great music!
