Holly Green- Using Your Brain to Win in Today's Hyper-Paced World

    in Business

Using Your Brain to Win in Today's Hyper-Paced World by Holly Green

This on demand audio series is a part of the Executive Girlfriends Group Vignette Series. Chicke Fitzgerald interviews Holly Green. The original live interview was 9/19/14.

The human brain is an amazing tool. Yet, many of its ways of working do not serve business leaders well. The brain can process large amounts of information. It has a real talent for forming patterns and connections. And it loves to answer questions and solve problems. But it also has a tendency to see what it expects to see, overlook data that contradicts its prevailing view of the world, and have greater confidence in its decision-making abilities than it should. In order to become more effective leaders, we need a much deeper understanding of how our brain works and how it often gets in the way of winning.

As CEO and Managing Director of THE HUMAN FACTOR, Inc., Holly helps business leaders and their companies achieve excellence by creating clarity on what winning looks like and determining how to get there.  Her unique approach to strategic agility, alignment and engagement - based on the approach Pause, Think, Focus, Run - provides the tools, techniques, and skills companies need to reach their destinations and achieve their goals.

    Lets Talk Holly Fulger

    in Pop Culture

Huffington Post Columnist and the Author of Broken Places  Rachel Thompson and Writer/Critic Bennet Pomerantz host media guests and talk varied subjects on Lets Talk

Our guest is actress  Holly Fulger

    Her bio

My name is Holly Fulger and I have been an actress in Hollywood for over twenty years. I am not a famous movie star – far from it. I’m a struggling working (and a lot of the time nonworking) actress who has experienced first-hand how one’s looks can dictate one’s career. It’s been one of the things that has fueled me, plagued me, and stood in my way; do I look right? Am I beautiful? Can I work in a profession that is all about looks? And most recently; can I work in a profession as a woman over 50?
Quite simply, growing up, all I ever wanted was to be as pretty as the models in the magazines. But I wasn’t. Not only was I very shy and quiet, by fourth grade I was tall and skinny, with crooked teeth that needed braces and eyesight so bad I needed glasses that were true “Coke-bottles.” I was a straight A student, but that never really figured into who I was; and if it did, it was only to support the fact that I was a smart girl who was nerdy and ugly. Honestly, it was such a painful period in my life and has been with me ever since.

That is the reason I created my webseries, The Hollywood Beauty Detective. I want to be part of that change. The Hollywood Beauty Detective is my way of opening up the conversation about beauty and helping to create a more inclusive definition of it.
    I
