Part of what happens in the holiday season, may occur because of the stressfulness of holiday events. Overdrinking, overeating, and fatigue may also cause it. The demands of the season are many: shopping, cooking, travel, houseguests, family reunions, office parties, more shopping and extra financial burden.
Do not overbook yourself into a state of exhaustion--this makes people cranky, irritable, and depressed.
Decide upon your priorities and stick to them. Organize your time.
the holidays do not automatically take away feelings of aloneness, sadness, frustration, anger, and fear.
Be careful about resentments related to holidays past.
Don't expect the holidays to be just as they were when you were a child.
There are many, many opportunities for doing community service. No one can be depressed when they are doing community service.
Plan unstructured, low-cost fun holiday activities
If you drink, do not let the holidays become a reason for over-indulging and hangovers.
Give yourself a break; create time for yourself to do the things YOU love and need to do for your physical and mental wellness
Most of all, if you find yourself feeling blue just remember The choice is always yours

Let's face it, for as exciting as Christmas may be for many it's also a time of deep deep depression for many others and some call it the holiday blues.
Now the experts claim it's due to not planning properly, family conflicts, striving for perfection, lack of sleep and even grief.
In Psalm 42:5 David talking to himself asks. “Why art thou cast down, O my soul? And why art thou disquieted in me?” Now it’s obvious as we look at the rest of this Psalm that King David's in a state of despondency that we call depression.
And this isn't just feeling sad. We all feel sad at times and I’m not talking about being disturbed because we all get disturbed at times.
And we all have broken hearts, disappointments and faded dreams, those come to all of us, but that’s not a depression.
So David asked himself, “Why art thou cast down, O my soul?”
Now there are 3 basic Biblical truths in this message so be sure to tune in because I pray they will help us all to deal with The Holiday Blues:

The Jamaicans reading this will all agree with me December can be a really joyful time of year. The house parties, work parties, reconnecting with family and friends whom are visiting from abroad. Lots of food, sorrel, rum punch, pimento lacquer, fruit cake (the black kind with lots of fruits and RUN). The fruits in this cake was marinated in wine and run for six months….NEED I SAY MORE? That was then! Let’s move forward to the experiences NOW 2015.
Life has moved in the express lane. Multiply credit cards, most over their limits with purchases of un-needed items. Back in the day…people had what was called “ partner” a group of people would put away certain amount of money every week, each week one person would collect the full (pot) the total sun collected from the people in the group and use it for their intended goal. Most people used it for their Christmas Money. This helped them to rid their lives of extra emotional stress of the holidays.
