HERE COMES THE JUDGE! series 3

    in Christianity

What is the story behind Deborah and Barak in Judges chapter 4 & 5?  Well we will look at the courageous work of the both of them together in conquering the Canaanites as God commanded in prior chapters.  How we coward back because of fear and become useless for the work or call of God, this is not what He has called us to do.  According to 2 Timothy 1:7 says "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind", so Children of God are to take courage, trust and obey the will of God because of his sovereignty. Pastor Michael Crow and Carnita Smith will continue with the study of "Here Comes the Judge!" series 3.

Donna Mebane author of Tomorrow Comes on How to balance mourning and living

    in Lifestyle

Any moment we can be painfully reminded that none of us is immune from loss.

Perhaps the worst nightmare of any parent is the loss of a child.  Thankfully this happens to a comparative few parents, but all parents feel for them, and quietly wonder how we could ever deal with it. Donna Mebane(Mebbin) found a passion for writing through her battle with the loss of her daughter.

Based on a true story of love and family, grief and joy, Tomorrow Comes (Starshine Galaxy, 2014) is inspired by the sudden and unexpected death of author Donna Mebane’s own daughter, Emma. Donna breathes vitality and warmth into Emma’s character, and you’ll find yourself rooting for Emma as she learns to navigate her new world with courage, humor, and an indomitable spirit.

Tomorrow Comes is a daring coming-of-age book – the first in a new series – in which an ordinary teenager must come to terms with her own mortality, the loss of all she once knew, and an other-worldly set of rules. The results are dark and uplifting, heart-breaking and humorous, poignant and poetic.

Donna Mebane grew up wanting to be two things: a mother and a writer. She became a mom after the birth of her first child, Jason. She became a writer after the death of her youngest child, Emma She calls Tomorrow Comes a work of “reality fiction” because it captures the reality of grief that family and friends endured after Emma died at the same time that it creates an enchanting fictional world of AFTER where Emma can continue to be herself.

Urban Therapy with Sun #116 Moms, Dads, The New Baby And Sadness

    in Lifestyle

This week on Urban Therapy with SUN we're gonna talk about Postpartum Depression in women as well as men.Postpartum depression is is the depressive state that a person may suffer from after a the birth of a child. It can be a very serious condition because it can hamper the development of a child by a parent. A parent can become overwhelmed with sadness and become neglectful of their parental duties. They can become neglectful of feeding, holding, loving, consoling, teaching, talking to, reading to, changing diapers, cleaning and nurturing a child in their depression. At it's worst a parent can even become physically or emotionally abusive to a child if they go untreated and get professional help. Some cases result in death.

Men suffer from postpartum depression as well which is something that goes unnoticed by many people. The differences between men and women with postpartum depression is that with men it's not caused by hormonal changes. There may be external factors at play that may be the cause. Fathers may not be as playful as they would normally be and may try to compensate for their depression by overindulging food or alcohol or drugs or gambling etc. They may withdraw fro familial duties in the home and my withdraw.

Postpartum depression is very serious. Please check out this show even if you don't have children. The welfare and safety of a child can depend on your knowledge.

Urban Therapy with Sun #117 The Decision To Marry Again

    in Family

What would you say the likelihood is that first marriages will end in divorce would you say?

Do you think that people who marry young are doomed for failure?

Do you think that most people's expectations of what marriage will be like is realistic or unrealistic?

When a marriage ends in divorce, how much time needs to pass before a person starts to recover from the emotional stress and can consider re-marrying?

What makes a couple decide to marry each other again after divorcing? Would you do it? Could you do it? Know someone who has done it ?

What about people who marry more than twice? Do you think that they put enough though into their decision to marry?

Would you get into a serious relationship with someone who married more than twice? Would you consider marrying them if the situation was right?

Do people treat people who have had multiple marriages the way they treat people that have multiple baby mothers and fathers of their kids? Is any of it fair?

What age do you think a person should marry in order to ensure the success of a marriage? Is there such a an age?

What about non-legal marriages? Is there a big difference between marrying by the state and marrying by God?

Youth Session with The Council of Elders Part One

    in Spirituality

The Council of Elders was called in by a group of local young people to answer some pressing questions. One young man gathered the questions from his friends and we arranged for Red to come to answer them.
He lays it out, no punches pulled. These kids have a big, big job ahead and they need support.
Red says, “You don’t have a lot of elders here to help do you?..”No we do not.” they answer.

We grown-ups need to step up to the plate and help turn things around here before we leave. The kids need our help, now.

When can we expect Global awakening?
What are the world leaders doing?
Why is there extreme anxiety amoung teens and young adults?
They asked about help from different sources, like crystals, spirit guides,.
What about ‘Indigo kids’ what is that about?

    He tells them.
“..everybody is pushing us down this path, and it’s a cliff! We don’t want to there. That’s what you have to do is say ‘We’re not going there. We refuse to go there and we refuse to bring humanity with us!
Because the big secret that nobody told you is that YOU ARE the makers of the future generations, isn’t that so?
     That’s a lot of power isn’t it?
To stand there and say ‘I hold the future for my DNA line, I hold it, it’s in me! I hold the future for my community, my society, for whatever it is, wherever you are standing to say, “That’s the power I've got, I’m holding the future and I get to decide the direction it’s going to go in. .and it’s a tough power to grapple with! isn’t it?
