Intimate and inspiring, Women Healers of the World celebrates 16 different healing traditions: conventional medicine, pharmacology, ethnobotany, herbalism, homeopathy, flower essence practitioners, shamanism, nursing, midwifery, conservation, and more. The book culminates with a chapter on Handcrafting Traditions, offering hands-on recipes for remedies inspired by the women in the book.
This one is for the healers, the energy workers, the light workers, the mystics and those interested in other realms.
We are in a new place in the evolution of healing and exploration of mysticism in our society.
So called ‘mainstream’ or western medicine, (pharmacy/surgery based medicine), and modern religions are overwhelmed by the numbers of people sick and suffering, physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. Eastern medicine, Chinese herbalists, acupuncture and Ayurvedic medicine have become much more common in multicultural societies, and most people have by now heard of Reiki!
Spiritualism and so called 'New Age' practices are becoming more mainstream as well.
There are as many different modalities of ‘hands on’ healing as there are practitioners, and it seems everybody and their uncle are practicing mediumship and intuitive counseling. As this resurgence of healers and mystics takes off, we often face discrimination and suspicion when interacting with those adhering to the old, more rigid consciousness.
Some segments of society view healers and mystics as evil, or frauds and discrimination and put downs can feel unkind to those who are sensitive. How do we cope with the overwhelm of mental, emotional and spiritual 'noise' that many sensitives experience?
How do we fit in, how do we find our place in the collective, when much of the collective does not understand energy, let lone alternate realms!
We had a host of questions from our local healers and mystics and a lively conversation full of practical advice and wisdom carried us through an informative and entertaining evening. Enjoy!

Harriet Tramer is author of Racing To Heaven The horses in this book go galloping through the pages, as they display great athleticism. But do they really leap over fences that are treacherously high or race at breakneck speed towards the finish line? Or, are they simply the product of the narrator's vivid imagination? Teen age girls like here are, after all, prone to dramatizations. Some readers will argue for the first interpretation, while others might favor the latter. But those who simply enjoy the read will probably be selecting the best option.
