The Legend of Mothman began in the Point Pleasant area of West Virginia from November 15, 1966 to December 15, 1967. The first newspaper report was published in the Point Pleasant Register dated November 16, 1966, titled "Couples See Man-Sized Bird...Creature...Something". From the first sighting, more people started seeing the mythical creature with the beaming red eyes. One couple described it as a "large flying man with ten-foot wings following their car while they were driving in an area outside of town known as 'the TNT Area', the site of a former WWII munitions plant.
Mason County Sheriff's office believed the sightings were due to an unusually large heron. Shortly after, on Dec. 15, 1967, the Silver Bridge collapsed, killing 46 people. And Mothman reports seemed to disappear.
Was it a Supernatural entity that helped bring that bridge down and terrorize the citizens? Has Mothman been seen since? Ronald Murphy is a student of the unknown. Ronald is making his second appearance on Spaced Out Radio, as the author has a fascination with supernatural entities from faeries to dogman, and of course Mothman.
