Compassion is a key motivator of altruistic behavior, but little is known about individuals’ capacity to cultivate compassion through training.
Now, through a recent scientific study, we've learned that it's possible to become a more compassionate person by training your brain.
Researchers from the Center for Investigating Healthy Minds at the University of Wisconson-Madison's Waisman Center found that engaging in compassion meditation -- where you practice feeling compassion for different groups of people, including yourself -- seemed to increase a sense of altruism.
"It's kind of like weight training," study researcher Helen Weng, a graduate student in clinical psychology at the university, said in a statement. "Using this systematic approach, we found that people can actually build up their compassion 'muscle' and respond to others' suffering with care and a desire to help."
Helen Weng is our guest this week on the Voice of Leadership, sharing more about this study and our ability to become more compassionate human beings.

Hosts Janet Kira Lessin & Dr.Sasha Lessin welcome back researcher/author Neil Freer to "We the Anunnaki". We are joined by regulars Robert Evans, Jr., Helen (Nell) Parks from down under and Janet's brother, William R. Thompson, Jr. will possibly drop by and be a part of a roundtable discussion.
Our main focus is of course our favorite ancestors, the Anunnaki and in particular, Enki, Ninmah, Ningishzidda (Thoth), Enlil, Marduk, Inanna, Ereshkigal, Ninurta, Nannar, Anu, Antu and many other of our favorite characters in this ongoing, eternal, multi-generational, extremely dysfunctional passion play that spans over 450,000 years.
With "Moses" premiering in theaters nation-wide over the holiday season and this being the Christmas season, the celebration of the birth of Christ, we're going to focus on Jesus, Moses as well as the Exodus and address the questions, "Who were Jesus and Moses? Were they human or Anunnaki? What evidence do we have? We'll cover as much as we can this episode and continue the dialogue next week.

Jericho, VT – It can be stressful having a child with special needs – it’s stressful to be a parent in general – but it can also be wonderful experience as well.
Helen Hipp is a psychotherapist and life coach and the founder of WithinU Life Coaching, where she works with adults with special needs and their families by opening their minds to abilities, capabilities and alternate possibilities.
“Their challenges are achievements waiting to be faced,” says Helen. “My belief is we all have special needs. My job is to give life to their thoughts with action steps that inspire. Many people view special needs from a perspective of hardship, but my son Raymond has taught me a lot through his courage and determination. It’s just a wonderful gift he’s given me.”
Helen’s son Raymond, now 29, was given the diagnosis of Asperger’s as a child. In 2013, Helen published A Different Kind of Safari, a children’s book about celebrating differences and encouraging one’s potential. A Different Kind of Safari puts into words the essence of Helen’s teachings and beliefs, epitomizing her goal to have a positive impact on someone else’s life by helping them find their own answers.
Helen and her family went on an African safari back in 2001. During the trip, they came upon a pod of hippopotamuses. Standing on the outside of the pod was a pink hippo that Raymond named “Rosie.” The tour guide explained that Rosie was standing on the outside because she was tolerated but not necessarily accepted by the pod because of her differences. Of course Raymond could understand that experience.
Says Helen: “It’s an empowering story. It’s got a wonderful, universal message that everyone can relate to and it’s fun, too!”
Helen Jackson has taught a class on ethics this past semester that became a hit with the students from day one. They found thsmselves discussing matters from ethical perspectives that they had never thought about before the class. Then one day Mrs. Byrd sat in on the class and was so impressed that she decided to do a show including a 30-minute class discussion involving the students and Mrs. Jackson. On today's show, John and Karla talk with Mrs. Jackson about the class and then allow you to listen in on the class discussion. If you wanted to know what goes on in a college class, this is your chance to find out!
Helen is such a blessing and anointed! She moves in the miraculous and she would love to pray for you.!
we hope that you will be on this call and we come expecting from the Lord.

Who are the Anunnaki? Why are they important to humanity? Which Anunnaki gods remained and which left after Sodom and Gomorrah? Who rules this planet? Which archetype do you identify with? These and many other questions are explored in this and other episodes of We the Anunnaki, a discussion panel of authors, researchers and experiencers interested in solving the mystery of who are these Anunnaki gods? Today we are doing another roundtable discussion with 3 to 4 minute segments where each person answers the questions or makes comments and presents their perspective till the timer chimes or if the time’s not rung yet the panelist may decides to yield the remainder of their time and pass to the next person when they are complete with their train of thought. 1. What archetypes has the Anunnaki story generated and how have these archetypes affected humanity? The main ones are Enki, Enlil, Ninmah, Nigishzidda, Marduk, Anu, Innana, Ereshkigal, Ninurta, Nannar, Nergal, Alalu, etc. 2.
