The International Caregivers Association (ICA) creates and delivers effective caregiving solutions to benefit not only patients, but also families, homecare workers, hospital staff, and long-term care employees. ICA for Alzheimer's and Dementia Caregiving is "source solution" oriented. Physicians, nurses and home healthcare givers gain techniques to improve cooperation, reduce stress, and help build networks. Facility Administrators and Caregivers acquire care solutions to improve quality of life for everyone impacted by dementia, while enhancing operations and reducing costs. Healthcare students benefit from learning techniques and applications that make a meaningful difference. For anyone seeking to learn how to care for or improve the quality of care, ICA provides it -- compassionately around the world day and night with information, tools, and techniques. "Because every human life is sacred, individuals living with Alzheimer’s/dementia must be able to feel safe, retain a sense of independence, be respected and treated ethically." Through online accredited training and ambitious teams around the world in South America, Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe and North America, Dr.Ethelle Lord (President of ICA) is promoting a mission doused in her life's passion. Presentations are scheduled at the 24th Annual Conference of Alzheimer's Europe and 9th International Conference on Frontotemporal Dementias. Dr. Lord's realization of the great need for adopting a uniform way of delivering dementia care to professionals and families came through her own caregiving journey. Her husband was diagnosed in January 2003 with Vascular Dementia following a triple bypass surgery. She authored the first Alzheimer’s primer, “How in the World... and Now What Do I Do?” Now, with a pending book release, expanding ICA, plus Remembering 4 You, she joins us to share the far-reaching impact.

How Seniors with Alzheimer’s Can Benefit from Home Health Care
Home health care can be a great benefit for seniors with Alzheimer's disease because they can get the care that they need while they remain in a familiar environment. Depending on the severity of their symptoms, they might need only companion care to make sure that they are eating and taking their medications.
There are a few affordable in-home health care options. You can hire an elder companion by the hour, or have a live-in arrangement where the person stays in the senior's home so that they can be there to help them get up in the morning and then settled into bed in the evenings.
It can be difficult to watch your beloved parents decline in health and mental capacity, but there are many in-home health care providers available to help relieve the daily burden.
Firstat Nursing Services has been providing a higher standard of home nursing, home health and home care services for elderly, disabled and injured people in the greater San Diego area since 1997.

Spirit Matters; & End of Life Health Care with Judy Flickinger
In her book, Spirit Matters, Judy Flickinger offers a seldom-considered but all-important perspective on what really matters at the end of life. As a retired hospice nurse turned author, Judy focuses on the importance of keeping the spirit—the person inside the dying body—alive and well during the course of a life-limiting illness.Spirit Matters exposes the motives, misconceptions, and lack of knowledge that often prevent dying people from receiving the type of care that can create and maintain a healthy spirit. The message in Spirit Matters is conveyed in eleven lessons illuminated by the personal stories of dying people and their families. Readers will learn, laugh, cry, and hopefully realize that near the end of life, first and foremost - Spirit Matters
Judy Flickinger was a hospice nurse for the last twelve years of her forty two-year professional life as a registered nurse. During her hospice career, she worked directly with hundreds of dying persons and their loved ones.
Early in her hospice work, Judy came to realize that a successful hospice outcome depended as much, if not more so, on the condition of the patient’s spirit as it did on the condition of the patient’s body. She recognized that a healthy spirit could make the difference between a miserable death and a positive, meaningful end-of-life experience for both the patients and their loved ones.

Every day you rub lotion into your skin, apply soap to your face and lather shampoo into your hair. Instead of your well-meaning pampering, you could actually be exposing your body to harmful chemicals and toxins through your personal care products.
Keep that beautiful body of yours healthy. Use these tips to learn how to sift through the jargon in common body care product labels to avoid using dangerous chemicals.
Know your information.
Don’t get lured in by false marketing claims of “natural,” “gentle” or “earth-friendly.” The government does not require safety testing, so these terms essentially mean nothing.
As for products labeled “organic,” be sure to check the ingredients. The Federal Drug Administration does not regulate the term “organic” as it applies to cosmetics, body care or personal care products.
