Elizabeth "Lily" Hills is the creator of the Master Your Mind Master Your Weight online training, one of the few programs in the world that focuses on the mental side of weight loss.
She is also an award winning author, inspirational / motivational speaker, and the former Host of Sparkpeople Radio for Sparkpeople.com, #1 Health Site in the United States with over fifteen million members worldwide.
Her award winning book "The Body Love Manual -How to Love the Body You Have As You Create the Body You Want" is a result of her personal recovery from compulsive overeating and weight obsession.
The Body Love Manual is the recipient of USA Book News National Best Book Award in Health, Diet and Weight Loss and a finalist in Foreword Magazine’s Self Help Book of the Year category.
Her passion is to help to turn around the obesity epidemic that is creating so many social and personal challenges worldwide.
Ms. Hills personal recovery from a fifteen year food addiction has given her a profound understanding of the real path to permanent and healthy weight loss: having your mind on your “team.”
Her life changing presentations are “personal empowerment” oriented and revolve around the concept that weight loss requires first having the ability to master the thoughts that make you reach for food you are not hungry for. This makes the shift to healthier food choices and a more active lifestyle far more achieveable. Ms. Hills is passionate about making the world a healthier place, one speech, one book, one service and one product at a time.
December is an interesting time to talk about healthy food choices. Once Americans are in the throes of the holiday season, we also tend to throw ourselves into the food and drink associated with the festivities. The outcome from all these celebrations is about 1.5 additional pounds for many of us. And, the majority never loses this weight. So, some of us enter the 2014 winter season approximately 15 pounds heavier than we started the 2004 season.
When we combine the concepts of eating and weight gain with employer-provided health care, we must also consider a growing requirement for employees to stay as healthy and fit as possible in order to access employer incentives or avoid employer penalties.
This CoHealth Checkup show will focus on a discussion with three people whose specialties include: clean food cooking, fresh fruit delivery to the workplace, and fresh ingredients and scratch cooking in employer-provided cafeterias. These leaders include cookbook author Terry Walters, Tom O'Connor of Seattle-based Market Fresh Fruit, and Victoria Vega of Unidine Corporate Culinary Group.
Our focus will be: How can employers combine their messages about health living with healthy food choices at work?

Can a diet free of meat, milk, eggs, butter and cheese actually taste good? Deborrah Cooper, author of the new cookbook WHY VEGAN IS THE NEW BLACK: MORE THAN 100 DELICIOUS MEAT AND DAIRY FREE MEAL IDEAS YOUR WHOLE FAMILY WILL LOVE says the answer is "absolutely!"
Her goal for this book was to help change the perception that healthy foods look weird and taste bad. The typical American diet is full of greasy high sodium fast food that really packs on the pounds and sets us up for serious health problems. Reducing the quantity of animal protein and upping the plants we eat has been proven to reverse heart disease, normalize blood sugar and lipids, and lower both weight and blood pressure in just a couple of weeks.
Statistics support these concerns, especially in the black community. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), 78.6 million Americans are obese, which directly impacts the health and longevity of nearly one-third of the U.S. population. Obesity-related conditions include heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer. High blood pressure and arteriosclerosis impact the sexual health of Americans as well, reflected in erectile dysfunction in men, and reduced desire and blood flow to the vaginal area in women.
These are largely preventable afflictions, directly related to what we put in our mouths. Reality is, what we're putting on our plates is killing us. Find out more about how you can begin changing your diet for the better in this broadcast.
