Hector Lopez is a Mexican American born and raised in San Jose, California. His parents are both from a small ranch in Michoacan, Mexico. He has two brothers. Hector graduated from San Jose High Academy in 2010. He is now enrolled full time at San Jose City College. He is working toward an Associate in Science degree. Upon graduation from community college he looks forward to obtaining his Bachelors in Science degree in biomedical engineering at the University of California, Davis. He came across Good Karma Bikes organization on Craigslist in October, 2012. Hector became a volunteer and he found that they taught mechanics while working with bikes. Since volunteering there he learned a great deal about bikes and applied mechanical engineering.
