With the untimely death of Dr.Haberman,Delia, his right hand person is handling his interviews. I am pleased that she will be discussing both the functions and future of the Foundation and his marvelous 12 elements or characteristics of what he called the STAR TEACHER. In my usual immodest manner I will be using myself as an example of what it takes to be a Star Teacher. For verification I refer you to my book, TEACHER UNDER a MICROSCOPE. It explains why in 1978 in a US Dept of Education research project on teachers the researchers explained the things I said and did were what Dr.Haberman would state made me a Star Teacher. You decide. Use Dr.Haberman’s principles to evaluate yourself or other teachers - or let Delia know how or what you disagree with.

There is a lot of excitement in the Bay Area regarding the Golden State Warriors, who are atop the Western Conference alongside the San Antonio Spurs -- their opponent tonight in a nationally televised game. (The Warriors are 5-point underdogs, which seems a bit much for me. I also like the over 204 -- not that I am wagering or anything.)
The missing link for this team has been Andre Iguodala, whose offense has been spectacular for a team averaging more than 110 points per game.
Is he the type of missing link that could lead the Warriors our of the Western Conference and into the NBA Finals? My answer is revealed in this interview with Guy Haberman on 95.7 The Game in the Bay Area.

In his book TEACHER TALK, (you can only get it through the Haberman Foundation.org) gives actual things teachers have said to students. It ain't pretty and is an eye-awakening exercise in what teachers say that kill the motivation and spirit of students. I will be reading and discussing some of these as well as talking more about what he believes a Star Teacher should or could be. In my talking to and reading Star Teacher I had uneasily felt that maybe he was training teachers (after all he developed the TEACHER CORPS) to be successful in a dysfunctional system. That bothered me. However, in TEACHER TALK I saw the man deeply disturbed and concerned about the very STRUCTURE of schools that I believed caused even good teachers to work with restraints that destroyed their freedom to think, be creative, and to help their students developed all their abilities while learning to be responsible within any community. The newest MANDATE to teach their students without lecturing (talking to them) all day, but rather encourage them to challenge and question what they're learning. to be more free to think for themselves and be creative I do NOT believe will be successful. i will explain why and what might be done.
