Deontay Wilder Stiverne Review: Wilder Proves He's America's Champion?

    in Sports

Deontay Wilder (33-0, 32 KOs) becomes the first undefeated American heavyweight champion since 1992 by out boxing the extremely durable Bermane Stiverne (24-2-1, 21 KOs). Wilder managed to establish his jab early on, and repeatedly landed straight rights from a safe distance. Since Stiverne is a much more conservative smaller fighter, he was unable to impose his counterpunching abilities on Wilder due to the reach and height differential.

Stiverne grew frustrated and tried to bait Wilder into verbal jibes and exchanges, but Wilder maintained his composure and continued to pepper the former champion from long range.

Jay-Z's Roc Nation and Dusty Hernandez-Harrison Preview

    in Sports

Dusty Hernandez-Harrison is doing something Peter Quillin, Deontay Wilder, Keith Thurman, and Guillermo Rigondeaux is not, accepting a Roc Nation offer and headlining their first card this Friday in New York inside The MSG Theatre. In fact, Hernandez-Harrison is the 1st official boxer to sign with the promotional entity headed by Jay-Z and ran by David Iskowitz, former Golden Boy Promotions COO.

Hernandez-Harrison said it just felt like the right thing to do

“It was good, we met with them,” stated Hernandez-Harrison. They had the idea of the fight first on January 9th. The plans were everything that we wanted to hear. They worked with us on what we wanted and we connected with the people there, David Iskowitz, Michael Yomark, they treated us right.”

While Wilder, Quillin, and Thurman have the security of Al Haymon in their back pocket, Hernandez-Harrison feels the same with Jay-Z and company behind him especially because of their track record out of boxing and because he feels they have something to prove. We will with out a shadow of a doubt be taking live calls on air from you the voice of the people. Mayweather vs Pacquiao: We actually have negotiations

    in Sports

Manny Pacquiao was updated this morning on ongoing negotiations for a potential May 2 bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr., according to Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz.

“We’re still in negotiations with Floyd’s group through Top Rank. I spoke to Manny this morning. I gave Manny what is perceived to be a counter offer from the Mayweather people,” said Koncz, who then referred to Top Rank CEO Bob Arum.

“We discussed it and now I’ve given instruction to Bob to counter their counter. We’ve been going back and forth. Bob has been negotiating with the powers that be on Floyd’s side for the past couple of weeks. There’s been offers and counter offers, and a couple of days ago Bob called me and gave me allegedly where Floyd’s side is, and I discussed that with Manny two hours ago.

“Now I’ve given Bob our response to that. I’m never overly optimistic until the contract is signed, but the good thing is that we’re still going back and forth.”

Mayweather Reportedly Offered 120 Million for Pacquiao Fight

    in Sports

Feels like we’re back in 2012 with the ongoing Mayweather-Pacquiao negotations with all the he said she said going on from both sides. Even the Abu Dhabi investors are pitching like in the past.

According to a report by BoxingScene.com, the group from Abu Dhabi of UAE have upped the offer for a Mayweather-Pacquaio fight to a guaranteed $120 million dollars to Floyd Mayweather. Akbar Muhammad who is one of the principal investors said that the offer was submitted to Mayweather Promotions.

“The media has been speculating the offer has gone up $10 million to a guaranteed $120 million, and they’re right,” said M. Akbar Muhammad. ““Mr. Mayweather has said he’ll fight Pacquiao in the spring, so the only matter that needs to be resolved is the money.”

Frankly the issue has been more than money, more than drug testing, and more than dates. It’s the willingness of Floyd Mayweather and Bob Arum, his former promoter working together as it seems that was and still is the major hurdle from the start. But if anyone is offering the most money, it certainly is the group headed by Mr. Muhammad.

“I defy any other offer to come anywhere close to what Mr. Mayweather and the ‘Money Team’ will net by fighting in Abu Dhabi. It simply can’t and won’t be done. Such is the nature of today’s international financial landscape. It’s a brave new world, and sports is embracing it,” said Muhammad. “Mr. Mayweather can be cutting edge, a trend-setter. “
