Steve described the defense attorney as “A new comic with a funny way of saying things." Since that time, she has been named Oakland's Funniest Comic on the Strip, the Funniest Woman in Half Moon Bay. . . In 2008, she received the "Stand-up for Justice" Award from Death Penalty Focus, for her work against the death penalty. Guest: Theresa Shoatz, daughter of Russell "Maroon" Shoatz, who has a new book out on PM Press early 2013. Ms. Shoatz has been a community organizer for over 20 years. Donating her time to the Human Rights Coalition of Philadelphia (HRC FED UP!), Decarcerate Pennsylvania and Scientific Soul Sessions, she has fought tirelessly for her father’s freedom during his two decades in solitary confinement. She has been a pillar of support to the families of incarcerated men and women in her community, organizing and executing trips to prisons for relatives to meet their loved ones and exercising an “open-door” policy in order to counsel community members on the traumas brought about by mass incarceration. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Graterford Prison Chapter recently honored her dedication to families and communities throughout Philadelphia. He is a 2011 City of Oakland Humanitarian Award Winner, a father, cultural worker and playwright. Baba Achebe currently facilitates a Transformative Manhood Group which is made up of fifteen elders who conduct a weekly, multi-ethnic intergenerational “Critical Thinking” session for between ten and twenty youth, thirteen to twenty five years old.     Takriban watu 200 wamefariki dunia katika bahari ya sham wakati boti lilokuwa limebeba wahamiaji haramu kuelekea Saudia Arabia lilipozama katika pwani ya Sudan, shirika la habari la Sudan linasema. Kituo cha habari cha Sudan,kinachofahamika kuwa na uhusiano wa karibu na serikali ya nchi hio,kinasema kuwa watu watatu pekee walinusurika.Boti liliwaka moto,na ndani kulikuwa na watu waliokuwa wanataka kuingia Saudi Arabia kutumia njia haramu, shirika hilo lilisema katika taarifa yake.Wanasema wahamiaji hao walikuwa wanatoka nchi zinazopakana na Sudan. Haijafahamika pale walipoanzia safari yao.Mwandishi wa BBC mjini Khartoum James Copnal anasema bahari ya sham ni njia inayofahamika kupitisha wahamiaji haramu wanaokwenda Saudi Arabia na Yemen.

    DENZEL HOSTS RADIO VETERAN LEONARD MBOTELA "JE, HUU NI UNGWANA...???"

    Je,huu ni ungwana...??? Leonard "Mambo“ Mbotela ni mtangazaji mashuhuri wa redio nchini Kenya. Amejulikana kote nchini kutokana na huduma yake ya zaidi ya miaka 40 tangu 1964. Alikuwa mtangazaji wa habari na michezo hasa soka. Tangu 1966 amekuwa hewani na programu yake "Je, hii ni ungwana?".

    Leonard Mbotela alizaliwa huko Freretown, Mombasa katika familia ya kianglikana ya watoto nane. Babake James Mbotela alikuwa kati ya walimu wa kwanza Waafrika katika Kenya, mamake Ida alifanya kazi ya ustawi wa jamii.

    Leonard alisoma shule ya msingi ya Freretown kati ya 1948 na 1953 halafu Buxton shule ya kati Mombasa 1954 hadi 1958 akaendelea shule ya sekondari ya Kitui High School 1959 hadi 1963.

    Alipata nafasi ya kuingia katika ukurufunzi wa Sauti ya Kenya akishirikiana na Simon Ndesanjo katika programu ‘Hodi hodi mitaani’. 1964 aliajiriwa kama mtangazaji wa huduma ya Kiswahili. Mbotela alianzisha programu yake ya ‘Salamu za vijana’ pia akasoma taarifa za habari za huduma ya Kiswahili.

    Mwaka 1966 alianzisha ‘Je, huu ni ungwana?’ ambayo ni programu ya pekee inayoendelea hadi leo (2006). Alijulikana zaidi nchini kama mtangazaji wa soka kuanzia mwaka 1967. Kati ya programu zake zilizopendwa ni Uhalifu Haulipi, Ongea Lugha Sanifu and Waliosifika.

    Wakati wa uasi wa 1982 (jaribio la kijeshi la kupindua serikali ya rais Moi) Mbotela alilazimishwa kusoma habari za waasi kwa sababu sauti yake ilijulikana kote nchini.

    Katika maisha yake ya kazi alikuwa pia mhusika wa huduma ya "Presidential Press Service" chini ya Rais Moi kwa miaka saba.

    Alirudi KBC akastaafu mwaka 1997 akiwa na cheo cha mwangalizi mkuu wa programu za redio.

    Hata baada ya kustaafu ameendelea kusikika redioni akisoma habari na programu yake "Je hii ni ungwana?".

    Mbotela amemwoa Alice Mwikali mwaka 1970 akazaa naye watoto 3 : Ida, Jimmy na George.
