HOST BIG RAY
B.B. King, the legendary blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist, died Thursday, May 14, 2015, in Las Vegas. He was 89 years old.
Attorney Brent Bryson told The Associated Press that King died peacefully in his sleep at 9:40 p.m. local time at his home, where he had been in hospice care.
Although King had continued to perform well into his 80s, the 15-time Grammy winner suffered from diabetes and had been in declining health during the past year. He collapsed during a concert in Chicago last October, later blaming dehydration and exhaustion.
For most of a career spanning nearly 70 years, Riley B. King was not only the undisputed king of the blues but a mentor to scores of guitarists, who included Eric Clapton, Otis Rush, Buddy Guy, Jimi Hendrix, John Mayall and Keith Richards. He recorded more than 50 albums and toured the world well into his 80s, often performing 250 or more concerts a year.
King played a Gibson guitar he affectionately called LUCILLE with a style that included beautifully crafted single-string runs punctuated by loud chords, subtle vibratos and bent notes.
The result could bring chills to an audience, no more so than when King used it to full effect on his signature song, "The Thrill is Gone." He would make his guitar shout and cry in anguish as he told the tale of forsaken love, then end with a guttural shouting of the final lines: "Now that it's all over, all I can do is wish you well."

Tonight we will discuss a hot topic in the praise and worship scene: Are guitarists getting too materialistic? Are we buying excessive amounts of gear to serve God, or using God to justify our excess?
We will also look into Jet City amps and why they are a great value for P&W guitarists with a limited budget. We will also take your calls, prayer requests and discuss general topics.

Jimmy is a unique artist with over 20 years in the music industry. He has worked with such artists as Zebra, the Good Rats, Steve Morse, Robin Trower, Blackfoot, Wendy O. Williams, Loudness, Queensryche and producers Nile Rogers and Tom Werman.
Don't bother looking for a pigeonhole into which Jimmy Packes will fit. He just lives to rock and he rocks out how he wants. Which means he gets heavy with hard rock and metal, lays out the soulful blues grooves and just keeps it real with honest, straight up rock-and-roll energy. Packes packs a sound that sucker punches you in the gut and leaves you bleeding and begging for more.
Packes has been courted to play guitar for Ozzy Osbourne, Guns N Roses, Never the Bride, Faith No More, David Lee Roth, 21 Guns and others. Touring has carried him across the country and around the world. Packes is also the co-owner of Azimuth Jag Records (New York and London). The UK press declared him one of the leading instrumental guitarists on the globe following the release of his “Axxe to Grind” release and he was also invited to the Montreaux Jazz Festival. He has announced the forthcoming release of new music and is spending time teaching guitar, bass, band classes and vocal coaching at The Music Vault Academy in Southern California. Packes co-owns and is head engineer/producer at Holy Grail Studios at Nyack, NY.
“Guitarists at the pinnacle of their craft are few and far between. Let's just say it's been a long time since someone like Packes has come along and there aren't too many like him.”

Sired by classic rock and modern metal ancestors, Tattermask of Charlotte, NC, commingles melodic relics of Ozzy Osbourne, Led Zeppelin, Boston, and Whitesnake with modern riffage akin to Disturbed, Alter Bridge, Evanescence, and Sevendust to forge a fresh sound in the mire of mainstream active rock. Driven by dual lead guitarists Josh Wright and Travis Dry; powered by tight, expressive rhythms from Adam Blackmon on drums and Harley Quinn on bass; and garnished with vocals from Amanda Caines that go from Pat Benatar to Adele to Evanescence at the drop of a hat, sonic variety is the ultimate goal of Tattermask's catalogue of original tunes.
The band has just released their latest EP, Carpe Noctem, and they'll be on the show to tell us a little about it, as well as their upcoming gig on the Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock Tour, opening for bands such as The Agonist and Flyleaf; so be sure to tune in!
In the third installment of the 10 Best Series, we break out the most competitive spot in the rock/metal band, the lead guitarist. Special guest, Central Florida guitar wizard, Randy Chapman will join Will and Thunder to come up with the 10 best rock/metal lead guitarists!
