    in Sports

On this edition of The Versus Podcast, Bonta and Eddie get into the studio to recap what in the hell happened in the latest installment of the Golden State Warriors-Memphis Grizzlies series in the conference semifinals. The fellas bring in a few reinforcements to carry out the show, as Nashville cast member, TSFJ sports writer and local Memphian Rosalyn R. Ross hops on to show how Memphis can counter the Golden State wave after dropping Game 4 in the Grindhouse. Plus, we bring on our friend of the family Logan Murdock to be the third wheel to explain the shenanigans that takes place during our #SaturdayMorningHoopSessions as Bonta was not in attendance and Logan let fly a legendary air ball. Let's make some fun history.

Who is better: Memphis Grizzlies or Golden State Warriors?

    in Basketball

The best record in the NBA is now shared by the Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors, thanks to Stephen Curry finally sinking a game-winning 3-pointer for the 'Dubs to give them a victory over the Orlando Magic last night.

At 15-2, the teams sit atop the Western Conference. Both were highly regarded coming into this season, but neither was expected to get off to a start this good. We will get to judge them against each other in a little more than two weeks when they lay each other for the first time.

    So until then, we debate.

The Warriors have a 10-game winning streak and lead the NBA in point differential at 10.0 per game; while the Grizzlies are third in point differential at 8.1 and take a five-game winning streak into tonight's game against the Houston Rockets.

Golden State's two losses came back-to-back against the Phoenix Suns and the San Antonio Spurs back on Nov. 9 and Nov. 11. The Grizzlies two defeats came Nov. 8 at Milwaukee and Nov. 19 at Toronto.

The Grizzlies are 11-0 against the West, and I have Marc Gasol leading Stephen Curry in the latest edition of my weekly MVP rankings.

I talked about the Grizzlies, the Warriors, and the merits of Gasol vs. Curry in the MVP race in this interview with Gary Darby on "The Eric Hasseltine Show" on 92.9 ESPN Radio in Memphis. Enjoy.

Kevin Lipe of the Memphis Flyer's "Beyond the Arc" Blog will be the guest in the second segment. The Grizzlies' three-point shooing woes will be a topic of conversation, as will the lay of the land post-Trade Deadline & the 5 games in 7 days facing Memphis to start the unofficial second-half of the NBA season.

Finally, the brothers Riehl (Douglas & Joseph) of RealTime Draft will join Joe & Chip in the show's final segment. The Grizzlies' 2015 draft pick protections will be broken down, as will potential picks for Memphis later in the draft. Wings who can shoot threes and bigs will almost certainly be discussed.

    Grading the Grizzlies

    in Basketball

The Memphis Grizzlies got themselves a gook backup center, retained Tony Allen at an affordable price, had Jamaal Franklin fall into their laps inn the 2nd round and acquired the rights to Greek_American point guard Nick Calathes from Dallas.

Calathas has a $1.2 million contract with a Russian club, but with a $500,000 buyout. He needs to decide by Friday where he plans to play, and the #Grizzlies are waiting with a three-year offer. Want to know more about this high IQ backup point guard? I have some Calathes stories to tell that you won't hear anywhere else in this interview with Erik Haseltine of ESON92.9 in Memphis.

Memphis madness: What happened to the Grizzlies?

    in Basketball

After a 50-win season and a hard-fought playoff loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, everyone expected the Memphis Grizzlies to stay the course and maybe add a shooter or two to their well-hone grit n' grind strategy. No one expected them to clean house, but that's what happened when reclusive owner Robert Pera unexpectedly fired assistant GM Stu Lash and team president Jason Levien. Man about Memphis, Chris Herrington helps us understand what went down and what comes next for the Grizzlies on this episode of the Drive & Kick.
