"In many situations, most people only get one chance. But few of us are blessed to have a second chance to prove themselves worthy. Teresa, is one of the lucky ones, she is a two-time survivor of breast cancer – diagnosed in 1997 and 2007, in which the latter she underwent chemotherapy. A talented performer, Graves also had a second chance at a career in entertainment. Starting out dancing and acting at an early age, she stopped to enter the workforce. For over 20 years, she worked in Corporate America for technology leader, IBM Corporation where she served as an independent training consultant. A creative by nature, Graves created a training manual for the company and was afforded the opportunity to travel across the country and abroad in this role. Her experience includes work as a plus-sized model and dancing as a member of several cultural dance companies in Atlanta. Beautiful Butterfly Welcomes Author of Forbidden Love Kendra Graves

    in Books

On This Episode of The Beautiful Butterfly Show We Welcome Special Guest Author of "Forbidden Love"  Kendra Graves. This is Kendra's first time on the show, so we are Excited to hear about this new author and the great works she has and will provide to the listeners and readers! Enjoy!

About Author Kendra Graves- Born and raised in Hartford Ct, I am 29 years young and a mother to my first born, my heart, my daughter Khaniyah. I always had a passion for writing. It all started at the age of 10 when I found myself alone in my bedroom and would write raps. From there I branched off and started writing poems but I found it didn't work for me. I gave it a rest for a few years and started back reading and writing at 15. My teachers always told me I was gifted. In school I would ace my writing exams. In highschool I read many books but it never occurred to me to write my own. I kept a journal of stories that happened to me, but never told my story. I graduated from highschool in 2004 and went on to cosmetology school because doing hair was my second passion. Shortly after entering into the field I had to leave school because I couldn't work with the chemical because my skin was to sensitive. I didn't know what else to do with myself so for a few years I tried to find something that worked for me. In 2010 I told myself I'm going back to school but It was all put on hold because I couldn't go as an independent student at 24. Once I turned 25 I enrolled in Kaplan university where I studied criminal justice. I made the dean's list every semester and presidents list my final semester. I graduated with my Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice in 2013 with a 3.91 gpa. Still trying to find myself in the field of my study is where I fumbled upon writing again in October 2014.
