STRAIGHT WIVES TALK SHOW
Bonnie's guest tonight is coach and motivator Suzette Hinton. Suzette has an inspirational story which she has shared on Bonnie's show in the past about her marriage not once--but twice to the same gay man. Suzette's religious beliefs led her to believe that people can change through prayer and willingness. She realized after the second round that this doesn't happen at all.
Suzette has been a coach for minority women to learn how to improve their lives. She is strongly into music, and she has written a new book that was launched several weeks ago called "The Sound of My Life." She says about her new book:
In my book, I talk about my struggles with codependency and being an accomodater. I also share how I've learned to give a gracious "no," and how it is a gift to the hearer. Don't expect them to think so or to respect that your no comes from a loving place. They will deal with their own feelings about it. That, you cannot control. You have to let people process in their own way. Truth be told, most of us disregard our boundaries seduced by the hope that by doing so, the object of our affection will see us more fondly. That's sad because we teach people how to treat us.

Dr. Toni Yancy recently passed after a battle with cancer. She was one of the first guest on "The Wellness Journey!" about 3 years ago. Dr. Yancey became a supporter of the show. She was gracious and kind...a truely phenomenal woman.
Toni was an extraordinary life force who made an impact on everyone she knew – from those who only met her once, to those who considered her a lifelong friend. Born and raised in Kansas City,KS, Toni was a true renaissance woman who excelled in her many pursuits: at 6’2” a Division 1 basketball player during her undergraduate years at Northwestern,a former model, a poet and author, and a physician. But she was most passionate about her work as a public health researcher and activist.Toni was committed to improving the health of vulnerable populations and devoted her career to eliminating health disparities. She created “Instant Recess®”, a program that calls for a grassroots approach to“making America healthier 10 minutes at a time.” Her idea to incorporate brief bouts of physical activity into daily routine whether at school or work or worship, earned her numerous awards including the Pioneering Innovation Award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She was one of a handful of national thought leaders asked to serve on the board of directors of the Partnership for a Healthier America, the non-profit that guided First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move campaign.

The Firemasters
In 2010 I wrote an article for The Atanta Post where I posed the question: Where Are the Black Mobile App Developers?? I am happy to report that since then several Black mobile developers have answered the call. Lateef Martin, creator of the new game The Firemasters, scheduled to be released in July, is one such developer. Lateef a mobile game developer from Canada, contacted me after reading the article and was gracious enough to come on the show and discuss his journey as developer, creator, designer, storyteller, and animator of the new game The Firemasters. The Firemasters is a new mobile game featuring positive Black characters. Oh, I have been waiting for this one. You don't want to miss itl.
