Welcome to Life From all Sides. This show is about exploring life from every angle. You can't examine anything by looking at one side.
Today's show is about poetry. We create what we love and this is a new form of poetry for me. It is called Haiku.
A haiku poem consists of three lines, with the first and last line having 5 moras, and the middle line having 7. A mora is a sound unit, much like a syllable, but is not identical to it. Since the moras do not translate well into English, it has been adapted and syllables are used as moras. From (http://examples.yourdictionary.com/examples-of-haiku-poems.html)
This is my second attempt at this great art form.

Carson Buckingham knew from childhood that she wanted to be a writer and began, at age six, by writing books of her own, hand-drawing covers, and selling them to any family member who would pay (usually a dime) for what she referred to as “classic literature.” When she ran out of relatives, she came to the conclusion that there was no real money to be made in self-publishing, so she studied writing and read voraciously for the next eighteen years, while simultaneously collecting enough rejection slips to re-paper her living room…twice.
When her landlord chucked her out for, in his words, “making the apartment into one hell of a downer,” she redoubled her efforts, and collected four times the rejection slips in half the time, single-handedly causing the first paper shortage in U.S. history.
But she persevered, improved greatly over the years, and here we are.
Carson Buckingham has been/is a professional proofreader, editor, anthologist, newspaper reporter, copywriter, technical writer, novelist, short story writer and comedy writer. She loves reading and gardening; but not at the same time. Though born and raised in Connecticut, she lives in Arizona now—and Connecticut is glad to be rid of her!

It’s a celebration! Tonight on I AM Liberty. My new book is out and I would like to take the night to revel in the fact. I will probably twist the cap off a Hank’s Root beer and talk about whatever comes to mind. Sure we will touch on news, high level. For most of the show though we will talk about writing, fav poems, books, movies, foods, love.
I would also like to discuss the importance behind celebration. One of the things we do as we putter through this world is, those of us with a conscience anyway, we pulverize ourselves when we make mistakes. We blame ourselves for days, months and weeks at a time. It drives us into depression most of the time. Then when we do break through and do something great we post a couple pics on Facebook and forget it. It’s always about balance. When we accomplish something it’s important to celebrate it just as much as we crush ourselves over failures.

Meet painters, poets and musicians who have received images, words and musical scores in dreams and who have practiced the 'art of recollection' to turn their dreams into reality.
