Take some time this week to remember your original happy hour: Saturday mornings as a kid, waking up at dawn, jumping on the couch with a bowl of chocolate cereal, turning on the ‘toons, tuning out the outside world, and working your way into a sugar hangover before noon. Today we're celebrating the 25th anniversary of the greatest American movie ever made, Goodfellas! No, of course no network would ever play Goodfellas on a Saturday morning, but that just isn't enough to stop Grim and Mark from geeking out about it. All those scenes, all those lines, all those songs, all those huge shirt collars, all those f-bombs... remember them all over again with us this morning! We also chat with Goodfellas co-star Illeana Douglas about the anniversary and what it's like to be a part of cinema history, plus her new role on NBC's Welcome to Sweden along with the show's star and creator, Greg Poehler. Welcome to Sweden Season 2 premieres July 19th on NBC, but Season 1 was just released on DVD -- and we've got your free copy right here! That's right, it's another giveaway spectacular sponsored by our friends at Entertainment One (eOne) Films, details at the end of the show! And last, but certainly not least, we send happy bithday wishes to Mr. T and we welcome Mark's beautiful European wife Kinga onto the show as a special guest and explore her own Welcome to Sweden moment, learning to live in new country and culture, and not loving Goodfellas as much as we do. Oh, thats right! It's JOE PESCI WEEK!!!
We love Pesci. From Vinny, to Goodfellas, to Casino and even into Home Alone 1 and 2! He's such an amazing actor.
So, with drinks in hand we will Expose two of his movies, starting with My Cousin Vinny! This is one of Crazy Bill's favorite comedies. It's an untimely classic from the 90s! Marisa Tomei won an Oscar for best supporting actress in her role as Mona Lisa Vito.
Then? Oh yeah! Goodfellas! Pesci, Liotta, DeNiro, Sorvino... what a GREAT mob movie that Scorsese gave us! While, it's not a lead Pesci role, it is centered around the three guys. But it's hands down one of our FAVORITE ganster/mob/mafia movies.
Of course, we will do some ups and dumps for things coming to theaters and/or DVD. We will touch on some TMZ.com headlines and tear into today's "Celebrities" and, we are still waiting for someone with the courage to try and take on Crazy Bill in Movie Madness Trivia...
C'mon, surely the 7 BILLION people in the world have at least ONE brave soul to call in for this!!!

Today I am blessed with a guest who is a man of many interests and accomplishments. Jon D'Amore may be most recognized for his self published story, The Boss Always Sits In the Back, but his pencil has brought to print many more works of wonder. He was and remains a man of music, still jumping to join fellow artistans on stage whenever possible. The backstory of his brethren tells of a generation of goodfellas, and also asserts his help in the caper that changed the law for life. Join us today as we discover how Jon went from being the Kid to the Don of his own domicile.
From the Amazon description of Inside the Lufthansa HEI$T: The FBI Lied by Kerry Whalen, our guest this Friday night:
It was a bitterly cold autumn night in 1978, at a deserted end of the cargo area of John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City. At 3:00 a.m., the most notorious armed robbery in American history started to unfold, and so did the meticulous planning of the mastermind.
Thirty minutes into the robbery, a Lufthansa German Airlines cargo worker arrived at the back of the building and crossed the path of three heavily armed wiseguys from Brooklyn. A bloody encounter ensued and the wiseguys took control of the building and all ten of its employees. The wiseguys, later to be known as Goodfellas, emptied the Valuable Room and made their record-breaking cash withdrawal.
In just over one hour, the wiseguys drove away with the Mother Lode, five million bucks in untraceable cash and supposedly a big payoff for each of them.
Forget everything in the newspapers about the diligent investigation initiated by the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn.
It never happened.
What is true? The bloody trail of murder; a dozen people including a wife and a girlfriend.
From the very start, the investigation into the $5,850,000 heist was bungled by the feds with their incompetence, disregard for the law, lies, threats and one-way street attitude. A newspaper reported, “It’s disorganized law enforcement, against organized crime.”
I crossed the path of the wiseguys and FBI. I was that cargo worker. I kept notes. This is my story.

ESPN's critically acclaimed "30 for 30" series premieres this Tuesday with Playing for the Mob. The story details the Boston College point shaving scandal of 1978-1979, its players, characters, and how the mob bought college basketball.
In 1978, Henry Hill, a noted gangster from the Lucchese crime family in New York City, teamed up with Rocco and Tony Perla from Pittsburgh to buy Boston College basketball. Hill, the protagonist from the movie Goodfellas who passed away last year, the Perlas, and BC basketball player Rick Kuhn spearheaded an effort for the Eagles to fix games by shaving points.
With teammates involved, Kuhn orchestrated point shaving games across nine games between December and February, 1978-1979. What started as a simple scheme became a story of high stake gambling, the Mafia, and Boston College. The scheme remained a secret until Hill turned informant in 1980.
We will spearhead a discussion of the story, its impact on college sports, and the prospect of match fixing as it continues today. We'll be joined by a panel of guests throughout the night, and we'll help get you ready for Boston College basketball season, the first under recently appointed head coach Jim Christian.
This is going to be one helluva show, and like so many before it, one you won't want to miss! So tune in and talk BC basketball and Goodfellas as we gear up for Tuesday's premiere of Playing for the Mob!
