    TOO GOOD not to WEAR!!

    in Culture

My guest this week on The Good Radio Network are Kevin and Sarah Goryl, founders of TOO.Apparel, an underwear company that was founded to help woman and children find a better future.

Kevin wanted to do something to remember a friend who had passed away tragically, and due to an inspiring chance encounter with Tom's shoes and a wife who is a apparel technical designer, it was decided that they could use their skills  to help non profits in memory of their friend Terry.

Today, for every pair of underwear purchased, TOO donates a pair to either a Woman's shelters, Woman's addiction centres and Rape Crisis Centers. Why Underwear? Well they found out that it was the most necessary and under served item donated.. Let's face it, lots of people give away used clothes, but used underwear? No one wants someone else's hand-me-downs, and many of the woman and children arriving at these Emergency centers come with just the clothes on their backs. Part of rebuilding confidence is a feeling of security and being properly clothed.

So far, TOO has established their organizaiton and are helping over 40 partner non profits across the USA. Well done TOO!!!

Finding Faith in the Wake of the Unthinkable

    in Women

"We must accept finite disappointment, but we must never lose infinite hope." ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

Have you ever experienced something that just completely knocked the wind out of you? An unexpected death, suddenly losing everything you own, or finding out you have a terminal illness. The event doesn't matter as much as the pain and disruption it causes to your life.

When these things happen, it's easy to fold and just give up. If can be hard to summon enough faith to keep going and to hope again. But know that God cares and you CAN recover. Take it from somebody who knows!

Tune in as we chat with Joseph Dubowski, author of the book, Cartwheels in the Rain: Finding Faith in the Wake of the Unthinkable. Hear his story of unspeakable loss when his daughter's life was violently ended by a gunman, and how he and his wife, Laurel, were able to heal and move forward.

Psalmist/Author/Songwiter Lisa Johnson stops by Good Deeds w/ Dr. Renee Sunday

    in Motivation

Born into a musical family, Lisa Johnson, a very gifted singer/songwriter/psalmist and author, discovered her talent for writing and singing at the age of two.  Even at that age, she was able to absorb music and lyrics instantaneously and loved to sing.  Her greatest inspiration falls into the hands of her parents who were members of gospel quartet groups that travel abroad throughout the state of Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama.  As a teenager, Lisa displayed her musical talents by participating in talent show competitions, musicals and plays.  It was then that she realized the value of her singing ability and won many first place recognition awards.   As she continued to write, she also began to focus on putting together songs for her first studio recorded gospel album entitled This Time - a personal CD that has the ability to capture the listener with its soulful contemporary songs and heartfelt lyrics.  Lisa is now back with her sophomore gospel album entitled How I Made It Through which shows not only growth and character within her writing and vocal ability, but also the fun side of her.  This album is guaranteed to keep you moving as well as in worship.  You can take a test drive of the single ‘Shout About It’ at http://lisaajohnson.reverbnation.com  In 2010 Lisa started a community magazine From Lisa’s Corner. The Magazine which is designed to make known those talents and dreams that no one has noticed or forgotten within the community. One being a book of poetry entitled Diary of Expressions with her husband Jerome Johnson, Sr. (2003) and the other entitled Raising A Proverbs 31 Woman Self-Esteem, Self-Worth, And Self-Discovery Of A Young Woman with LaTracey Copeland-Hughes (2014).
