Metropolitan Community Churches (MCC) is one of the world’s emerging churches, proclaiming a spirituality that is liberating and sufficiently profound to address the issues of our chaotic and complicated world. Since its founding in 1968, MCC has been at the vanguard of civil and human rights movements by addressing important issues such as racism, sexism, homophobia, ageism, and other forms of oppression. MCC has been on the forefront in the struggle towards marriage equality in the US and other countries worldwide and continues to be a powerful voice in the LGBT equality movement.
The Global Justice Institute is an important human rights ministry sponsored by MCC. We're honored to have Rev. Pat, the Global Justice Institute's Executive Director, join the Dimensions in Belief program to share with us how, as a people of faith, the Institute will work toward human rights and justice around the world.

Today during the BLACK POLITICAL BUZZ Blog Talk Radio Broadcast we will discuss how FREE ENTERPRISE/ Small Business has historically been the pathway to Success in America, especially within the BLACK American Community.
However it now appears that FREE ENTERPRISE which is the foundation for the Small Business Community, is being threatened via unnecessary TAXATION disguised as "Regulations".
I am not opposed to Regulations because as a Civilized Western Society, America needs Regulations to help create Order.
However Excess Taxation, disguised as "Necessary Regulations to keep us Safe" should not be used as a Deterrent to Launching & Operating Successful Small Businesses.
This includes launching Successful Small Businesses within the BLACK American Community.
America's future to continue Competing on the Global Stage will depend on her ability to cultivate an atmosphere conducive to Small Business via FREE ENTERPRISE.
During this episode I also discussed how Former Pres George W. Bush contributed to the Recession via a Deregulated Financial Industry. Yet under Pres Obama's Administration NOTHING has changed because Big Banks are now making More Money than ever at the Expense of Consumers & Taxpayers.
FREE ENTERPRISE: An economic system where few restrictions are placed on business activities and ownership. In this system, governments generally have minimal ownership of enterprises in the market place. This system aims for limited restrictions on trade and minimal government intervention.
CAPITALISM: An economic system based on a free market, open competition, profit motive and private ownership of the means of production. Investors in these private companies (i.e. shareholders) also own the firms and are known as capitalists.

Global health is a research field at the intersection of medical and social science disciplines. Global health transcends the perspectives and concerns of individual nations. In global health, problems that transcend national borders or have a global political and economic impact, are often emphasized. It has been defined as 'the area of study, research and practice that places a priority on improving health and achieving equity in health for all people reducing disparities. One of the greatest accomplishments of the international and global health communities since then was the eradication of smallpox. The last naturally occurring case of the infection was recorded in 1977. The global agenda abruptly changed in 1979 to an alternative strategy deemed “Selective Primary Health Care”. Major reductions in the burden of malaria have been achieved by improved prevention and treatment. Tuberculosis, which has social and environmental determinants now show emergence of multiple antibiotic-resistant strains. hundreds of millions of people are developing drug-resistant TB, most of them poor. An economic perspective emphasizes the cost-effectiveness and cost-benefit approaches for both individual and population health allocation. There are many perspectives and approaches to take when it comes to issues of global health. A political approach emphasizes economic considerations applied to global health (cost/benefit analysis). The journalist, Laurie Garrett suggests that conflicts in approach to solutions hinder funding and philanthropic efforts to properly control disease.
There are dangers to having divergent perspectives as exemplified by Andrew Natsios of USAID, when he proclaimed that antiretrovirals should not be distributed to HIV-stricken Africa due to the occupants lacking a concept of time and clocks to properly facilitate the proper sequence of drug consumption.
