Neil Romano Sells Conservative Politics
Neil Romano has been a staple within Republican politics dating back to the 1980s, when he launched an upstart campaign for U.S. Congress that caught the attention of then-President Ronald Reagan. The "Gipper" even campaigned with the young candidate in New Jersey; although he lost that election, his candidacy opened the door to politics...and the White House. Join us as Romano talks about the state of the modern-day GOP, and what his former boss President Reagan might think. Romano will tackle tough issues, such as our ailing economy, civil rights - as well as his lifelong commitment to improving the lives of people with disabilities.
ABOUT NEIL ROMANO:
Mr. Romano, considered one of the nation's leading authorities in the field of media and public advocacy, has dedicated his career to the marketing of ideas and messages to help save lives and promote public policy. Romano was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as the Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP), where he advised the Secretary of Labor and worked with all DOL agencies to lead a comprehensive and coordinated national policy regarding the employment of people with disabilities in the United States. While serving under President Ronald Reagan, he helped to design the first HIV awareness campaign, as well as the "Just Say No" campaign. His film, "America's Strength," which documents the inspiring stories of people with disabilities in mainstream employment, is due to be released nationally in the summer of 2010.
