Yoshihiro Uchida arrived on San Jose State College’s campus fresh off his parents’ strawberry and lettuce farm during the fall of 1940.  As a student assistant to Emilio “Mel” Bruno, who coached the SJSC Police School Cadets in judo, Uchida would begin his whirlwind courtship with the martial art form.  Bruno’s departure from SJSC to the California Department of Corrections later that semester provided a key opportunity upon which Uchida, who will be 96 on April 1, would pounce.  With Bruno’s departure, Uchida was given an opportunity to coach the Spartan cadets. But upon America’s entrance into World War II, Uchida joined the Army. There he and his Japanese peers—just as Black Americans—served in segregated units.  Initially, his unit served KP (Kitchen Patrol) duty, and cleaned military bases throughout the Midwest.  But once a superior officer spotted Uchida’s impressive academic record, he was transferred to a military hospital.  There, he worked in the lab, and was provided tutoring by military doctors.

International Sunday School Numbers 28:16-26 wk of 02-14-16 by Grover Weaver

    in Christianity

Hello everybody this is the Grover Weaver Ministries.org commentary of the International Sunday School Lesson on Numbers 28:16-26 for the week of 02-14-2016. Welcome...

    PRAISE HIM

The more I studied the verses that are the establishment of the Passover in the whole of the Bible, Numbers 28:16-26, is clear to me this is a celebration the Church will do forever. Luke 22:7-20 places Christ, in the Upper Room on the night before his death making the statement, I will not partake of the Passover again until I can have it in my Father’s house with my disciples. When we sup at the Lord’s Table in my absence do it in Remembrance of Him.

Numbers 28-29 set out the type and number of sacrifices that were offered on every day of the year by the priest for the children of Israel. This was the offerings to be made by a priest; a layman could offer as much and as many sacrifices for sin, impurity or vows as he choose, according to the dictates of his conscience, as long as it’s given with a ‘’willing heart’’...

The tree of knowledge of good and evil that God put it the midst of man he was not to eat of it in Genesis 2:17. He he told man if you do you shall surely die; Satan came alone in 3:4 and said, to the woman, ‘’you shall not surely die’’.

There are three deaths in the Bible, physical death, separation of body and spirit; spiritual death, separation of the individual from God; and eternal death, the final estate of the lost person in the ‘’lake of fire’’ (Rev 20:10,14; termed the ‘’second death,’’ separation from God forever).

This is what the Passover in Numbers 28:16-26 were to fix the prevention of the second and third death.

Constance Miller a Seattle resident and author of the brain injury survival manual that was featured on Super Bowl XXXIV. Her book is entitled FROM THE ASHES, and she asks: “What is the future of football now that it has been conclusively linked to the severe, debilitating brain disease known as Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE. What are the moral and legal implications of football in the age of concussion?  Recent studies have shown that developing brains of young children are especially susceptible to damage from brain injuries caused by concussions.”

Holder of a master’s degree in psychology, Miller is the managing director of the Seattle-based Brain Injury Resource Center, a non-profit clearinghouse operated by brain-injury activists since 1985. Providing a treasure-trove of information on the subject, the Center is manned by consultants that include neuropsychologists, lawyers and individuals suffering from TBI.

In the mid-1980s she authored the book “From the Ashes” -- a highly acclaimed work on head trauma and its long-term effects.

Miller and “From the Ashes” were the subject of a five-minute video segment on concussion that aired during the pre-game show of the ABC Television Network’s telecast of Super Bowl XXXIV between Tennessee and St. Louis.

She goes on to say “As the survivor of my own 1982 life-altering concussion, I am here to help other concussion survivors.

    MATTHEW 26:52-56

“Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. 53 Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? 54 But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?”

55 In that hour Jesus said to the crowd, “Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? Every day I sat in the temple courts teaching, and you did not arrest me. 56 But this has all taken place that the writings of the prophets might be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples deserted him and fled.

International Sunday School Exodus 12:1-14 wk of 02-07-16 by Grover Weaver

    in Christianity

Hello everybody this is the Grover Weaver Ministries.org commentary on the International Sunday School Lesson for the week of 02-07-16 from Exodus 12:1-14; the theme,Jesus is our Passover. I am Grover Weaver your minister and Sunday School teacher. Welcome,

Exodus 12:1-14 the scripture verses of this text is a narration of God creating a path to earth for the Slain Lamb to enter the earth and to redeem man from the penalty of sin, ( Rev 13:8). This slain lamb was slain at the foundation for this very purpose. Thus, the Passover and the Feast of the Unleavened Bread covered in Exodus 12:1-28, is the type of Christ our Redeemer.

The lamb was to be without blemish and to test; it was to be kept for four day as our Lord’s public life was tested under the hostile eyes of the Pharisees and the Sadducees to prove his holiness. The lamb thus tested was to be slain. The blood is to be applied individually...

The Feast of the Unleavened Bread typified an “I am” statement, “I am the Bread of Life. The statement is the foundation of the ancient supper which the Lord’s Table is prepared upon, it is the Eucharist, the Lord’s Supper, the Eucharist  Matthew 26:26-28 is established upon I am the Bread of Life...

Victoria Piekut: The Story Behind the International Crown!

    in Entertainment

I am 19 years old and live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I am full honors graduate of Norwin High School, graduating in the Top 10% of my class with a 4.0. For three years during high school, I studied Opera at Duquesne University’s City Music Center, and have been playing the piano for twelve years. I’m an opera singer, piano player, and professional model. I have had national modeling covers with Jo-Ann Fabrics, Fisher Price, Philip Pelusi, and have walked in fashion shows for Fleet Feet and Macy’s prom.

I currently attend the University of Pittsburgh for a degree in Business, and will hopefully then go on to get my Masters in Opera Performance. My ambition is to one day open a music conservatory for kids who want to learn to play an instrument, sing, or just learn more about music in general. Music was such a big part of my childhood, and I want to be able to give every child the same opportunity to fall in love with music, as I have.

In August of 2014, I won the title of 2014 National American Miss Pennsylvania Teen, and at Nationals placed 4th runner-up in Talent for singing opera, and placed 1st runner-up in the overall pageant. I then received the title of 2015 International Junior Miss Pennsylvania Teen and was lucky enough to become the 2015 International Junior Miss International Teen, as well as the IJM 2015 Teen Titleholder for Talent
