Warrior Talk with GI Jenn is so honored to have Major Rusty Bradley, author of LIONS OF KANDAHAR on to talk about the Battle of Sperwan Ghar, his experiences, life after the military, and upcoming projects!
One of the most critical battles of the Afghan War is now revealed as never before. Lions of Kandahar is an inside account from the unique perspective of an active-duty U.S. Army Special Forces commander, an unparalled warrior with multiple deployments to the theater who has only recently returned from combat there.
Southern Afghanistan was slipping away. That was clear to then-Captain Rusty Bradley as he began his third tour of duty there in 2006. The Taliban and their allies were infiltrating everywhere, poised to reclaim Kandahar Province, their strategically vital onetime capital. To stop them, the NATO coalition launched Operation Medusa, the largest offensive in its history. The battlefield was the Panjwayi Valley, a densely packed warren of walled compounds that doubled neatly as enemy bunkers, lush orchards, and towering marijuana stands, all laced with treacherous irrigation ditches. A mass exodus of civilians heralded the carnage to come.
Dispatched as a diversionary force in support of the main coalition attack, Bradley’s Special Forces A-team and two others, along with their longtime Afghan Army allies, watched from across the valley as the NATO force was quickly engulfed in a vicious counterattack. Key to relieving it and calling in effective air strikes was possession of a modest patch of high ground called Sperwan Ghar. Bradley’s small detachment assaulted the hill and, in the midst of a savage and unforgettable firefight, soon learned they were facing nearly a thousand seasoned fighters—from whom they seized an impossible victory.

WARRIOR TALK with GI Jenn is very proud to welcome our VIETNAM VETERANS! In this special 2 hour episode, we will discuss the war, our WARRIORS' experiences, treatment upon returning home, and their transition to civilian life.
There are persistent negative stereotypes about VIETNAM VETERANS, primarily due to the uniquely divisive nature of the Vietnam War in the context of U.S. History.
That social division has expressed itself by the lack both of public and institutional support for the former servicemembers expected by returning combatants of most other conflicts.
It is time we break that stereotype.... It is time we WELCOME our HEROES HOME... 29 March 2014 is the national Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day, but we are going to be HONORING our WARRIORS EARLY!!
Please call in and help us WELCOME HOME our VIETNAM VETERANS - 646-595-3504

He served in eight SEAL Platoons, was Platoon Chief in five, and awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for Heroism during a Search and Rescue
B.G. Burkett, a Vietnam veteran, served as a 1st LT with the 199th Lt. Infantry. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Vietnamese Honor Medal and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm. SHOW NOTES: In our HELP! SITUATION SPOTLIGHT™ series, we shine the light on challenges that community members have shared. This episode is, “ I Was Taught That I Have to Be Twice As Good As Them…and I Am Exhausted."
This is an episode that I feel very strongly about! The central question is who is in charge of your life? Is it you? Or, someone or something else? If you are in charge of your life then you define your goals, your value and your experiences. If you accede that power over your life to other people or entities then they will define your goals, your value and your experiences.
How much money should you make per year? What type of neighborhood should you live in? Either you will decide or someone (or something) else will decide. When do you decide that you have done your best (versus when you have more to give)? What is ‘good enough’ and what constitutes success?
When you choose to let other people or entities make these decisions they will have their own ideas of how much money you will earn (especially as it relates to how much money they earn), where you will live (by determining how much you will be able to spend on housing as part of your salary) and everything else in your life. If you elect to exercise your own personal power over your life, then you decide. Are you qualified for a job? You decide. How much money will you earn this year? You decide. What type of neighborhood will you live in? You decide.
What if you are operating under the understanding that everything you do is weighed down by some aspects of who you are? That you are running the race of life with heavy weights around your ankles that slow you down? That the weights make you have to run twice as fast as other people (those
Warrior Talk with GI Jenn - is HONORED to have the ACTIVIST MOM of Sgt. Kimberly Agar on the show to talk about TBI and suicide. Margy Agar has been a relentless activist regarding suicide among our troops, since the death of her daughter,Kimberly.
Kimberly served in Iraq as a heavy transport driver and was often called on to sing for special events in the war zone. She was injured by an improvised explosive device in Iraq during her first enlistment. She re-enlisted to see the world and was selected to be a vocalist with the Army’s elite European Band and Chorus based in Germany.
We have a special guest co-host tonight, as Turtle is out of our area of operation. My guest host, who we will call "The Marine", will be talking about TBI and the impact it has on the suicide rate among our TROOPS and our VETERANS.
Please join us for this very moving show. Call in number is 646-595-3405
Warrior Talk with GI Jenn - Confederate Armory & Part 3 of our PTSD series
Confederate Armory is a Veteran Owned business and operated by Jay and Jason, US ARMY and US NAVY (that has to be fun during the ARMY NAVY GAME!!) These guys are a start up business and doing great work. Let's support those who protect our 2nd Amendment rights... Plus we will talk about a way YOU can get involved in their next tee shirt idea!!
Then, Part 3 in our 10 part series on PTSD. We will cover everything from how pharmaceuticals make there way to Market or the "Chain of Events" to overmedication and misdiagnosis to malpractice as it relates to PTSD (VA and civilian facilities). We want to discuss the issue and share both the postive and negative results. Are there alternative treatments that work? We NEED to hear from you!!
I encourage those who have been treated with medications for their PTSD to share their experiences. Are your meds working for you? Are you being over medicated? Do you know what meds mix and which don't? Have you found alternative treatments? These are all topics that HAVE to be discussed. YOU are NOT alone.
Turtle, my co-host will share his story with medical treatment and not just the VA, but civilian hospitals. This is something we all need to be aware of. With 22 Veterans a day taking their own lives, the one size fits all - write a script, just IS NOT WORKING.
Feel free to call in and share your opinion at 646-595-3504.

We will discuss the new video Green Beret vs MARSOC rap battle. You guys already know Mat's work and if you don't, you are missing out. Google MBest11x to see some of his EPIC work. We are going to see if his bikni snap wll work over the phone and get his take on who is better, SEALs vs. RANGERs.
