Bruce Davis, Ph.D. was trained as a psychologist but discovered early that true happiness is not possible without a meaningful spiritual life. Through the years he traveled and lived in many cultures in different parts of the world. But it was in Assisi, Italy, the historic home of Saint Francis and Saint Clare, that he found a peace and inner path which seemed universal in its language and presence.
After years of bringing groups to Assisi, Bruce and his wife, Ruth, decided to live in Assisi. In the spirit of Saint Francis, they created The Assisi Retreat Center with altars to all the world’s major religions. Their center was given an official blessing by Pope John Paul II. The Assisi Retreat Center was listed as one of the top ten meditation retreats in the world by Travel and Leisure Magazine. More recently CNN listed the center again as one of the top ten meditation centers in the world.
After many years of leading retreats, Bruce found the main ingredients for personal transformation included spending time in silence, nature, and heartfulness meditation. The peace and quiet of silence helps people to discover an inner presence in the heart that is lost by many in our busy world. Since creating the Assisi Retreat Center, Bruce and Ruth have started Silent Stay, a retreat center near Napa, California.
Bruce is the author of several books including: The Magical Child Within You, The Heart of Healing, Monastery Without Walls, My Little Flowers, The Calling of Joy, and Simple Peace-The Spiritual Life of St. Francis of Assisi. Bruce is also a frequent contributor to the Huffington Post. For more information about Bruce’s and Ruth’s current activities visit their website at:www.SilentStay.com.

St. Helena - Empress mother of Constantine the Great. She was a native of Bithynia, who married the then Roman general Constantius I Chlorus about 270. Constantine was born soon after, and in 293, Constantius was made Caesar, or junior emperor. He divorced Helena to marry co Emperor Maximian?s stepdaughter. Constantine became emperor in 312 after the fateful victory at Milvian Bridge, and Helena was named Augusta, or empress. She converted to Christianity and performed many acts of charity, including building churches in Rome and in the Holy Land. On a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, Helena discovered the True Cross. She is believed to have died in Nicomedia. Her porphyry sarcophagus is in the Vatican Museum. Geoffrey of Monmouth, England, started the legend that Helena was the daughter of the king of Colchester, a tradition no longer upheld. In liturgical art Helena is depicted as an empress, holding a cross.

God In the Midst otherwise known as G.I.T.M or GITM is an apostolic ministry whose charge is to help encourage, edify and equip the people of God who are called to Home Churches, Small Churches and Para Church ministries. Home or house Churches usually have 20 people or less, Small Churches are up to 100 adults and Para Church ministries could be Bible Studies, Prayer groups, men or women’s ministries that are not Churches in and of themselves but walk alongside the Church. We are featuring one Home, Small or Para Church ministry each month by interviewing them. We hope that as you hear them tell their personal testimonies, share with us the history and current goings on at the Church, the Lord will confirm what He has placed on your heart or it may encourage you to step out boldly …it may even catapult you to that next dimension in the Lord & ministry. Our Host is Apostle Barbara Kizzie

On this Holy Thursday, we begin our three-day celebration of the Paschal Mystery, the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ in history and in our own lives today.
