SORT BY Relevancy
Our friend Joe Carmichael has been serving the Lord for over 40 years in fulltime ministry. In that time, he has learned much and can share some experiences in regard to generosity, including why and how it has changed. Join us for today’s show and find out how you should adjust to changing times, as Joe has.
Joe was born in Enterprise, Alabama, the only town in the world that has a monument glorifying an insect! Right there in the middle of the town is the Boll Weevil Monument - that's a story you'll have to get him to tell you. Over the years, Joe has served several United Methodist churches. In 1998, Joe and his wife Pam were assigned to the Mansfield area to plant a church that would become known as Community of Hope. His passion is to create a culturally relevant bridge that invites people to walk across and follow Christ. His animated preaching style will have you laughing as you consider the life that Christ offers.
When we think about generous giving we automatically think of money. However there are other gifts that have no monetary value and whose value is beyond price. Mary Kaleli and Wangari Siocha will give us tips on generous giving. Listen live at 619-393-2852 or listen live/archived at: http://pinnacleofpraiseshow.com/new/

Join Mike and Tom as they discuss the REAL meaning of generosity:
Generosity is more than talk but the demonstration, and that real tangibility of faith moving from abstract to concrete as it really overcomes that massive devastation that’s left in all of us, worse than a tornado out of a summer night sky is what selfishness does to the soul, and when you see that counteracted in the life of people because the grace of God’s bright-living reality in them of a generosity that goes beyond nears human sentiment, but really to an inverse way of living in this thing called, ‘The Kingdom of God’. That’s exciting.
Join Mike and Tom as they discuss the REAL meaning of generosity:
The adjectives generosity, missional, organic, relevant, contemporary, the dangerous they could be sort of painted over a shellac on to just about any kind of activity, and it’s so much deeper than the words and so much more needed than just talking about it. That’s what really has me fired up about today, as we talk about those practical ways that God’s people are demonstrating His character, and really living out the discipline of generosity and as an expression of faith, as an expression of love for God Almighty through His son, Jesus Christ of a response to the incredible generosity God has shown us,

The idea of being generous is not a popular one in business, especially when things get tight financially. And yet, being generous is one of the energies that creates far beyond anything we can possibly give.
When we get past the ideas that it costs us, or that it's selfish not to be generous (even when we don't feel like being generous!) we can move into a new energy where being generous is a contribution to everything we would like to create.
Ashton Kutcher's definition of sexy is 'Be smart, be thoughtful, be generous.' So I wonder what that could create for you if you started to play with it? Generosity comes in many forms, not just money. Are you ready to explore the generosity of spirit you didn't know you have?
Each person should do as he has decided in his heart, not out of regret or out of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7

The sitcom, The Haves and the Have Nots, by Tyler Perry is a huge hit! It is a compelling drama - or so I hear. I do not watch TV much.
In reality, many Christians are among the 'have nots'. They are in line for hand-outs! Christians are tithing less, finding it hard to give when they look at what they do have through eyes of scarcity. Many believe wealth in the Bible to be an Old Testement experience that has no place in the New Testement, nor in the current age. The Christians that are wealthy today are publicly chastised in the media as if having wealth is a crime, or a privilege only for those of the world.
We cannot GIVE what we do not HAVE! To be generous, does start with a mindset to be generous, but many who want to give, find a moment of true pain when they know they cannot afford to. They too, need the handout. YOU CAN'T GIVE WHAT YOU DO NOT HAVE! - The Profitable Steward should seek to HAVE extra, to share!
Luke 3:11 "He answered, “Whoever has two coats should share with somebody who has none, and whoever has food should do the same.”
"Whoever has two [ ] should share" Having TWO is having MORE THAN YOU CAN USE OR NEED! When you only have enough FOR YOU, you ARE NOT among those with TWO - who now have the ability and privilege, to share. Become part of the group of THOSE WHO HAVE! Leave the group needing the handouts - THE HAVE NOTS! Join the Profitable Stewardship Community.
