Since that time she has been using her gift of poetry to usher people into the presence of The Most High God at various venues in the Tri City area. She goes by the stage name of “SimplieME” because she realizes that she must simply be who God has called her to be and stay humbled as His name is exalted.

Gene has visited hundreds of farms, stockyards, and slaughterhouses documenting the deplorable conditions that exist. His pictures and videos exposing factory farming cruelties have aired nationally and internationally, educating millions about the plight of modern farm animals. His efforts have been covered by top news organizations, including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, and The Wall Street Journal. Gene’s book, Farm Sanctuary: Changing Hearts and Minds About Animals and Food, was a national bestseller. Gene holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from California State University, Northridge, and a master’s degree in agricultural economics from Cornell University. Gene Yang began publishing comic books under the name Humble Comics in 1996. In 1997, he got the Xeric Grant for Gordon Yamamoto and the King of the Geeks. Since then he's written and drawn a number of stories in comics. American Born Chinese, released by First Second Books in 2006, became the first graphic novel to be nominate for a National Book Award and the first to win the American Library Association's Printz Award.
