GCL Special: Jason Collins' Ex-Fiancee Carolyn Moos
A Game Changers Live Special Interview with Jason Collins' Former Fiancee Carolyn Moos:
A week after receiving the phone call from her former fiance Jason Collins, Carolyn Moos received another call from Jason. This time it was to tell her that the reason he called off their wedding in 2009 was because he was gay.
As Collins revealed in this week's edition of Sports Illustrated...He is Black and he is gay. Collins also shared the fact that he had dated Moos for 8 years in which they planned their life together even discussing having children.
In the aftermath of this watershed moment in the sportsworld, Moos is still processing the news while completely supporting Jason as he starts this journey as the first openly gay male athlete who is active in one of the major leagues.
Carolyn, a nutrition consultant and former professional basketball player, has only had a few days to process what Jason said he's known for most of his life. We'll catch up with Carolyn to hear her side of the story, how she took the news, and how she is coping with this shocking development.

GCL Crew Debates Credibility of NCAA & Emmert's Leadership
Last week, Miami (The U) President Donna Shalala's strong statement in response to the NCAA's Notice of Allegations brought more attention to a situation that continues to escalate...the NCAA's inability to govern.
The NCAA, a place where you can: Trademark your nickname & reap the financial rewards. Put cream cheese on a bagel during a campus visit & receive a sanction. NCAA enforcement & rules continue to baffle us all.
Despite the NCAA's Executive Committee recently endorsing President Mark Emmert (unanimously at that) & making their "vote of confidence" public, there seems to be a growing opposition to Emmert's leadership amidst decisions that chip away at the credibility of college sports' governing body.
On this week's show, the GCL Crew revisits several of the questionnable decisions the NCAA has made recently and debates the validity of the criticism Emmert has received from all corners of the sports industry.
In addition to our discussion of the NCAA, we'll talk about Manti Te'o's performance at the NFL Combine, if the Lakers make the playoffs, and what impact Tom Brady's restructured contract will have on Joe Flacco's contract negotiations.
Join us as we share our take on the state of the NCAA Wednesday at 1pm ET on Game Changers Live.

GCL SportsBiz Brief: Benefits of College Athletics Success
Roll Tide...
The SEC proved it is the dominant conference in college football once again in what ended up as a less than entertaining BCS National Championship Game. But sometimes, a victory is more than just a victory!! On this week's GCL SportsBiz Brief, we'll analyze a hidden aspect of the 'Bama victory.
Do you ever wonder what the impact of Alabama's "dynasty" in college football will have on-campus? There's no doubt that Alabama's 42-14 thrashing of Notre Dame will definitely help Nick Saban secure another Top 5 recruiting class on signing day in February and will help the ticket office continue its streak of consecutive sellouts in the 100,000 stadium. But what impact will this victory have on the # of applicants, the SAT scores of those applicants, donations to the university, and more? Does a strong football program impact the quality of student who attends a university?
We are joined by Professor Michael Anderson who will discuss the correlation between strong athletic programs at the collegiate level and SAT scores (or academic success).
Anderson, Professor of Economics at UC Berkeley and a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economics, has written a fascinating research paper that states that spending on college athletics is justified because a successful college program attracts better students to the institution as well as other beneficial outcomes.
Join us Tuesday at Noon ET/9am PT for this conversation (and more) as we also cover 5 Hot Topics in SportsBiz heading into 2013!
