After record breaking submissions, filmmaker attendance, and sold out screenings last year, the 5- year-old festival has expanded to two days, November 14th and 15th. The weekend will be bring film lovers together through Q&A’s, networking events, and an awards ceremony on Sunday the 15th. Marianna Buchwald is the founder and creative director of the International Art Group in Chicago. She works with a diverse group of artists, musicians and dancers from different countries. For 15 years, she has worked as International Tour guide in Chicago and in Germany, developing art and architecture, neighborhood tours and special cultural tours to benefit different types of age groups and visitors from around the world.
The German American Cultural Center (DANK Haus) presents a vibrant International festival of art: Culture Bridge/Kulturbruecke,Feb.20. - March 19. 2016., a cultural bridge of musicians, painters, dancers, and sculptors from Germany, the United States and many countries around the globe.
Curated by Marianna Buchwald, International Art Group and Derin Baratka,Lincoln Square Artists Guild, the exhibit at the Scharpenberg Gallery at DANK Haus will feature a broad range of works with an intention to deepen cross-cultural ties. There will be a series of events that will entertain and stimulate thinking about how many cultures can create a dialog about what matters in the world of art, art making with Linda Platt for children and adults, artist talks and panel discussions, moderated by Prof. Talmadge Wright, Prof. Almira Gilles, Pala Townsend, Kao Ra Zen and Tracy Kostenbader.
As a diverse group of artists, musicians and dancers from different countries, we invite you to come and see our exhibitions, performances and special events. Also to participate in special tours in Chicago, accentuating art and culture, and also to join us to participate in journeys to the countries and neighborhoods we originated from.
Our guests are Diamond and Silk (diamondandsilk.com), who are two African American sisters that are strong Donald Trump supporters, as they chat about why "The Donald" is their candidate of choice. And our second guest is Jonathan A. Our guest this week will be Corrina Montlo, Co-founder of the Motorcycle Film Festival. Corrina & Jack Drury founded the film festival in NYC, fall of 2013 to provide a home for motorcycle films from around the world. Moto film enthusiasts gather to discuss, celebrate and show their films about their favorite subject, motorcycles! Films such as “Why We Ride” and Dream Racer” have gotten recognized as a result of the exposure they received at the Festival. Listen in to get the inside scoop about the 3rd annual MFF that was held September 23-27, 2015. Corrina will fill us in on who the winners were and how the Film Festival has given a voice to many independent film makers internationally. What is planned for 2016? How can you attend? THE WAY I REMEMBER IT is a narrative film about Vera.
Born in Eastern Europe, Vera speaks five languages; she came to America as a teenager and has lived an extraordinarily exciting life. Now, in her mid-seventies, and recently transferred to the dementia floor at the Harris Health Center, Vera tells her son, Jules, there are three things she wants to do. She also needs to tell Jules her secrets, before her memory slips away.
About the Director
Nada Ray is a filmmaker and journalist based in New York City.
After she moved to the U.S. from her native Belgrade (Serbia) in ’07, she decided to focus on film and video media directing and producing documentaries, long form interviews with uniquely talented artists and branded content.
RAY made her narrative film directorial debut with the drama, THE WAY I REMEMBER IT, a short film about Vera,written and produced by Jules Bacal, starring Christine Ebersole, two-time Tony Award winner for Grey Gardens.
