Smith will be Washington, DC Public Schools Athletic Director, Stephanie Evans.  Evans heads a department that oversees athletics in 111 schools in grades 4 through 12; the total 2011-12 DCPS enrollment is approximately 46,000 students, according to a DCPS spokesman.


    A 1990 graduate of Potomac (Md.) High School, Evans served for the past year as director of player development for the Holy Cross basketball team and later as an assistant athletic director at the Kensington private school. A former Bowie State player, Evans was a head women’s basketball coach at UDC, Virginia State and, most recently, Kentucky State.

    Indiana University Health 'Garden on the Go' (r) and Nebraska 'Community Crops'

    How can folks get access to Farmers Markets.  How can towns and cities expand Food access to those challenged to find Good Nutrition to help fight Obesity and Diabetes.  One town has an idea.  Join us at 11:30am, CST time zone and hear how your town can expand Food access to folks.     A Chat in the Garden

    Tune in Tuesday, Nov. 4th 11:30 am  est when our guest on Chat in the Garden with Monique A. J. Smith will  be newly appointed Athletic Director, Selina Kohn of Paine College. Kohn is the first female to lead a collegiate program in the Aiken-Augusta area. She also becomes the second female athletic director in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, joining Penny Minter, of Lane College.  Kohn served as Paine’s associate athletic director and senior women’s administrator before taking the program’s top position. She replaces Tim Duncan, who stepped down in July to become athletic director at Clayton State.  Kohn served two stints as the school’s interim athletic director. From January to April in 2011, she bridged the gap between Ron Spry and Duncan. She again served in an interim role after the departure of Duncan before getting the job full-time.


    From 1990-93, she set four NCAA Division II records, including: most assists in a game (23), assists in a season (309), season-assist average (11.9) and career assists (927, 107 games). After graduating from Albany State in 1994 with a biology degree, she became the team’s assistant coach.
