A CONVERSATION WITH ERNEST AND JOE GALLO
What if Mayor Sabatino had borrowed $15 million?
As I assumed the office of Mayor there were unresolved issues that had to be dealt with. A significant issue was whether or not the city of Modesto was going to contribute $15 million to the new performing arts center. Ironically the vote to contribute the money was to have been taken a few weeks before my election.
I contacted the city's director of finance and asked him if he could get $15 million. he replied that it was possible but said Mayor you will not like the balloon payment.
Even though the county had already committed to their $15 million, because they were able to sell the tobacco tax money that was coming to the County, I decided that I could not commit to $15 million we did not have.
I invited Ernest and Joe Gallo to the Mayor's office for lunch. I informed Ernest Gallo that the city simply did not have the money. He replied why am I not surprised. I then asked him if he wanted me to tell Marie Gallo and he replied, no, I will tell her myself. I have always felt that Ernest Gallo was truly not surprised at the city's financial condition and was satisfied with my decision.
Later the council did commit to sidewalk and street improvements around the center.
Today the County subsidizes the Gallo performing arts for $1.2 million a year. The council’s decision not to participate was met with widespread resentment but I can take satisfaction in the fact that the city of Modesto does not face the burden of a $1.2 million subsidy.

"The Mad Scientist of Sports" Nick Ficorelli returns. However, this is not the average everyday sports show he is bringing back to the air waves. "The Mad Scientist" has created his own personal sports lab, and you, the audience, as well as many of his special guests, will be his test subjects. He will throw theories out, and you never know where they will be coming from. He will keep everyone guessing, and he will open his lab to any and all comers. Be prepared for "mad science" of sports at its best.
This week on "The Mad Scientist's Sports Lab", our special guest will be Steve Gallo (@SteveGalloNFL), NFL Analyst for USA Today's The Huddle and a Member of the PFWA. Also on the show, we have Allie Fontana (@AllieFontana) back for her "Allie's Fantasy Alley" segment at 10:00pm EST, ESPN Sacramento's Ray Harris (@MrMojays) and Right On Q's Quinn Jordan 11:00pm EST for some NFL talk, and The Student Section's (@TheStudentSect) Terry Johnson (@SectionTJ) at 11:30pm EST to talk about upcoming bowl games, the College Football Playoffs, and the Coaching Carousel.

Transformational Dialogue Radio host Craig Weiner, DC, interviews Fred Gallo PhD and together they explore how two of the fastest growing approaches for emotional and behavioral change are working synergistically.
Energy Psychology and Mindfulness stem from ancient concepts and practices that have been recently scientifically validated for their therapeutic benefits. Mindful Energy Psychology (MEP) is Dr. Fred Gallo’s answer to an integration of these powerful approaches to alleviate human suffering. Energy Psychology (EP) approaches generally focus on eliminating a psychological problem by addressing energetic substrates; whereas, mindfulness traditionally focuses on consciousness, observation and acceptance, without an aim to eliminate anything. While the two approaches might be seen as diametrically opposed, reciprocal synergy emerges from an integration, such that EP is deepened via a mindfulness attitude and practices, and mindfulness benefits are accelerated through EP.

FOR MAYOR OF MODESTO
As Mayor of Modesto, the People’s business was conducted in open, meaningful debate.
I fought for taxpayers, and voters who rejected the incumbents, and elected me their mayor.
Financial scandals that existed before I took office were exposed, and dealt with, to protect taxpayers from further losses.
Against overwhelming odds I succeeded in preventing borrowing $15 million for the Gallo Center, saving money our fully mortgaged city could not afford.
Today, we still owe as much on Centre Plaza as when it was built!
Upon leaving office I continued a determined fight for citizen participation in government
I rejected a $4000 fine offered by a corrupt District Attorney, and chose to have a jury decide.
I was there to argue successfully against the city and the MID selling our water to San Francisco.
I was there to encourage Wood Colony farmers to defend their land against city expansion.
In 1999 Modesto was in a downward spiral and needed change.
In 2015 Modesto is in another downward spiral, attempting to trick people into sales taxes to pay for unwise spending.
In my second term we will move an informed Modesto forward again.
