VoLUMPtuous! THICK vs FAT [Setting The Tone Radio LIVE]

    in Weight Loss

    Oh she's just big-boned.
He just drinks lots of beer and that explains his gut and 'love handles'.
She's cute to be a big girl.

Some say these are all things that people say to smooth over the obvious: THAT PERSON IS OVERWEIGHT!

Whether you want a stick figure, full-figured or someone any size with figures, who you date is a matter of personal taste. But are some women fooling themselves into believing they aren't overweight or even obese? Or are we overly-critical of weight? This episode, we discuss the effects of being fit, overweight, obese, fat, and everything in between.

Modern Day Minstrel Shows [Setting The Tone Radio Live]

    in Television

LET'S BE CLEAR: This a DIRECT shot popular shows like "Empire", "Scandal", "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" and the likes. Stemming off our BlogTalkRadio featured episode, "SLAVE THEN, SLAVE NOW!", we will debate whether reality shows and television dramas of today really mimic how blacks were mocked in blackface during the 19th and 20th century, even 50 years ago.

As we revealed last episode, the tactics used by slave owners left Black Americans and other minorities stripped of their native tongues, religion and culture and even today, Black Americans seem to be subjected to a NEW form of slavery.

Are blacks in a much better position landing (some) television roles? Or is this the same minstrel show only masked to appeal to the masses while implanting negative stereotypes are blacks. This episode, we discuss the effects of television on Black Americans today, if any.

SLAVE THEN, SLAVE NOW! [Setting The Tone Radio LIVE]

    in Culture

Before American slavery abolition, the total slave population south of the Mason-Dixon line was somewhere in the likes of FOUR MILLION predominately black people. The US government instituted chattel slavery and made BILLIONS OF DOLLARS from free slave labor. The tactics used by slave owners left Black Americans and other minorities stripped of their native tongues, religion and culture. We killed if we became literate and were taught to hate each other simply because of skin complexion.

Today, Black Americans are subjected to a NEW form of slavery. Many feel that the effects of slavery in the 18th and 19th century are still felt today. We were slaves then and we are slaves now; just this time it seems irreversible, right? Or are blacks in a much better position? Have we gained strides in America? This episode, we discuss the effects of slavery on Black Americans today, if any.

Abortion: Pro-Life or Pro-Choice? [Setting The Tone Radio LIVE]

    in Parents

About This Episode (Abortion: Pro-Life or Pro-Choice?)

Induced abortion laws have come a long way. In fact, until 2013, Iowa allowed telemedicine abortions, where women could tele-conference with a physician and click a button to unlock the drawer containing mifepristone, the first of two pills used to perform medically-induced abortions.

    WHAT ARE THE STATISTICS?

Globally, there are about 44 million induced abortions each year, but this is not a new phenomenon. They have been performed since ancient times by use of herbal medicines, sharpened tools, physical trauma, and other traditional methods. Today, unsafe abortions are a major cause of injury and death among women worldwide with approximately 20 million unsafe abortions are performed annually; 97% taking place in developing countries.

    IS IT RIGHT?

This is the question we pose this episode! We want to know you thoughts on abortions. Is it moral wrong or simply a choice? Your thoughts are welcome. Tune in at 7 PM EST at 646-200-0246.

GAY IS THE NEW BLACK [Setting The Tone Radio LIVE]

    in LGBT

    This Sunday's Topic

This episode we will delve into a statement that it seems no one wants to really address head on: is gay the new black? Proponents of this statement feel like men and women of the LGBT community are ostracized and oppressed much like blacks were during America's Civil Rights movement. Others do not interpret the statement this way; instead, they are saying that homosexuality (bisexuality, etc.) are just cool these days. In either case, do you agree? Are gays mistreated in America much like blacks were in most of the 20th century, or this statement completely preposterous? Talk to us, STToners!

  • Promiscuous Girl [Setting The Tone Radio LIVE]

    in Lifestyle

    This Sunday's Topic

This Sunday we discuss the Brittany Jones fellatio video that has broken the Internet the first week of 2015. A few days ago, she was another name, yet World Star Hip Hop has changed her into an overnight sensation.

But let's back up a bit.

The American woman has made leaps in bounds since the 50's with more strength and money in the workplace, oftentimes becoming the breadwinner in households all over the nation. Yet, an evolving economy of thriving women does not stop some from choosing seedy professions such as stripping and ography. Why is that? Is it the fascination of being in front of the camera? Could it be pop culture?
