Tyson Fury is now the heavyweight champion of the world. That's strange to say, but true. Wladimir Klitschko no longer reigns over the division. Is Fury's defeat of Klitschko on HBO a good thing for boxing? How does Tyson Fury compare to other "surprise" champions? It's a topic fit for a Gypsy King.
This coming weekend on Showtime, another "Battle for Brooklyn" looms, this time in the middleweight division. Brooklyn apparently has a lot of champions at this point. Daniel Jacobs fights Peter Quillin in what could be a very interesting matchup, if not a matchup between two of the slightly lower tier fighters in the division. We'll make the best of it.
Not to be ignored, Chris Algieri fights Erick Bone on Showtime Extreme. So we have that to look forward to.

Join us for another all-new edition of "Real Boxing" with elite level trainer Ronnie Shields!
The boxing world received a shock last weekend as the Klitschkho Brothers dynasty appears to have come to an end. Tyson Fury became the new heavyweight champion of the world by defeated Wladimir Klitschko by unanimous decision in Germany last weekend and now joins Deontay Wilder as the owner's of boxing's heavyweight titles. This will dominate the first hour this week.
Items from the wrestling world that will be discussed include A.J. Styles' recent injury and the status of his matches at ROH Final Battle and New Japan's Tokyo Dome show, and Sheamus' new heel stable.
Scott & Phil will also discuss the Ben Henderson/Jorge Masvidal fight from last weekend and Henderson's big offer from a promotion few MMA fans may know exists, Ronda Rousey getting an immediate title rematch, the pay-per-view buys number for Cotto-Canelo, and tomorrow night's big middleweight boxing match between Peter Quillin and Daniel Jacobs.
In this episode we take on the new George Miller movie, Mad Max: Fury Road! This time out, Tom Hardy takes over for Mel Gibson in the role of Max. Charlize Theron also stars as they take on Immortan Joe and his Warboys! What a lovely day! Join us for Mad Max: Fury Road
WBC World Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder joins Team LeftJab Boxing Radio to talk about his upcoming title defense at The Barclays Center in Brooklyn on January 16 and give his thoughts on Tyson Fury's win over Wladimir Klitschko. The Bronze Bomber talks about fighting in Brooklyn for the first time and gives an update on when we can expect an opponent to be named.Wilder breaks down Tyson Fury's win that ended Wladimir Klitschko's nine year run as World Heavyweight Champion and tells us what doomed Klitschko. We ask Wilder about what his stratergy would have been if it was him fighting Fury and when he expects to fight to unify all the belts now that Klitschko has said he will excerise his rematch clause.Deontay also gives his opinion on David Haye making a comeback and just how good he thinks Anthony Joshua can be.
Rumors have swirled about how many Pay-Per-View buys Saul "Canelo" Alvarez's win over Miguel Cotto pulled in, and so far the news is quite good, if not surprising. It was a solid kinda-middleweight fight, but perhaps not the clash many had hoped for.
The fight that stole all the attention was Francisco Vargas' war with Takashi Miura. In danger of being stopped by a damaged eye, Vargas rallied to end Miura's night in the 9th round. It was an instant "Fight of the Year" contender.
As some may have expected, Guillermo Rigondeaux didn't entertain much on the card.
But this coming weekend we get to see two huge fighters compete for the heavyweight title on in Wladimir Klitschko and Tyson Fury, on HBO. This could be a case of who you think will win and who you want to win being two different things.
Also on the menu, James DeGale fights a comebacking Lucian Bute on Showtime in Quebec City.
All these things and more will be covered by James Foley of Bad Left Hook and The Fight City's Patrick Connor. And probably with too many jokes thrown in.
