Hour 2) Mycotoxins and Their Analysis In Real Time Exposure Common household maladies seem too frequent to quantify. You're as healthy as the soil from which your food grows! Judith D. Schwartz -- journalist and author of Cows Save the Planet...and Other Improbable Ways of Restoring Soil to Heal the Earth -- visits the show to discuss how we can take back the soil (and our health) by unmaking deserts, rethinking climate change, bringing back biodiversity, and restoring nutrients to our foods.
Topic will include:
* Why the soil, fungi, and cows are missing links in the climate change debate. * Why cows are NOT responsible for global warming. * The truth about rising sea levels. It's not just the melting icecaps...

Philosopher Dr. Diana Hsieh interviewed biologist Dr. Monica Hughes about "Myths about Evolutionary Theory" in this episode of Philosophy in Action Radio. Many Americans are woefully ignorant of the basics of evolutionary theory, even while they criticize or reject it. Biologist Monica Hughes explained the basics of evolutionary theory, including some fascinating examples of evolution in action. Then she discussed and dispelled some common myths about it. Monica Hughes received her master's and PhD degrees in mycology and forest pathology at SUNY-ESF (State University of New York College of Environmental and Forest Biology). Broadly trained in aspects of plant and fungal biology, Monica's research is focused on an obscure but diverse group of insect-associated fungi, particularly co-evolution of the fungi with their hosts, and description of new species: her research uncovered roughly 50 new species of fungi from New Zealand, including several new genera. Since obtaining her PhD in 2008, Monica has worked as a biology professor in the Community College system of Colorado and at Regis University in Denver. Foraging For Life! Fridays *9:00pm/Est *8:00pm/Ct *7:00pm/Mt *6:00pm/Pt Live Listen and Chat go to: http://prepperbroadcasting.com/We hear it all around us, “Times are tough, prices are outrageous, everything is going up except my wages…” Would you like to learn how to gather food from the wild for free? Have you ever asked yourself, ” If I got lost in the deep woods without provisions, how would I survive?”
The senses can be trained to pick up on things that most walk past. Foraging, gathering, gleaning; whatever you care to call it, can be a life saving skill. I sometimes refer to it as treasure hunting! I have at times set out to find a particular food, weather it be berries or fungi, and came home with wild medicinal herbs, pine pitch or cones. I’m amazed at the vast array and abundance that our planet provides for us naturally…we just have to learn to read her labels of identification. Wouldn’t you love to know how to preserve for later use that which you have just gleaned from nature? I have lots of wonderful tips and procedures, recipes and tricks of the trade to help you find a wealth of useful skills to keep your treasures stable for later use.
I invite you to join me in Foraging For Life to discuss and share the skills and knowledge of gathering wild edibles. Not only will we expand our ability to identify and use that which nature supplies, but we will also strengthen our sense of self-reliance by shedding some light on the practice of foraging.
