Where's There is Life, There is Hope - Dr. Reese Patterson

    in Health

In 1987, Dr. Reese Patterson was diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer.  He was told his illness was terminal.  Miraculously his illness and his continuing survival gave hope to hundreds of fellow patients.  Through the years, Dr. Patterson counseled many hundreds of cancer patients and shared with them the concepts that have helped him cope with this EXTREMELY frightening disease.

Dr. Reese Patterson has written many coping manuels for different types of cancer, and he has Fed-Exed copies to patients all over the word after they have contacted him.  He does all this at his own expense.  He does not own a computer, and so all his material is hand-written, or reprints from his published articles. Dr. Patterson is genius, albeit a very humble one.

Financial Grace Radio: Cultivating God’s Money Trees in Your Life Today

    in Women

Today's Show:  In Whom or What do you Trust?

Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight”.  If you’ve been to church several times in your life you will have heard this and maybe even committed it to memory.  When it comes to money, however, there is a frightening acceptance of a trust in money, not God.

You see it’s easy to make plans and to dream based on what you can see and think is financially possible.  Yet, that’s not how we’ve been called to live.  We have been called to trust Him and to lean on Him in ALL our ways!  This week we're going to dive in to the 'hot topic' of retirement!  It is not God's plan; never has been; and He has a better way if we will turn from the current world view back to Him as our provider for our financial needs throughout our lifetime!

Understanding Frightening Spiritual Experiences with Christopher Reburn

    in Spirituality

Over the course of the many years I've been doing readings and teaching my classes, I've heard quite a few stories from clients who've had some rather frightening spiritual experiences, including seeing a ghost for the first time, waking up to a room full of spirits and so on.

During this show, I will address some of these concerns, and why fear is often the first emotion a person may feel when dealing with some of these instances, and how to handle the situation if it happens again.

Want to learn more about your spiritual journey? Consider taking one of Christopher's intensive development courses! Details athttp://www.thepsychicspirit.com/spiritght.html

The majority of people are very uninformed about cc because it has become unmentionable in the mainstream media.  Talking about it is the first step to solving it.

Stalking: Name it. Know it. Stop It.

    in Self Help

January is National Stalking Awareness Month. This is a serious problem. Many have lost their lives at the hands of a stalker. Here to help us make sense of staking is Ms. Bevelyn Mitchell.

Bevelyn Mitchell is a native of the Low country, a small crossroad town outside of Walterboro,
SC.   She is a graduate or SCSU, SC and Springfield College Springfield Mass.

She has lived at the beach for the past 16 years.  She has worked in the field of Social Work for the past 16 years.  Much of her work has been done in Horry, Georgetown and Williamsburg counties.  She believes that God has given her the compassion to relate to those who are hurting.

Her past work experience includes working for Mercy Hospice, CARETEAM HIV/AIDS population, and the Elderly. She is currently employed for Horry and Georgetown Rape Crisis Centers and the Sexual Assault Services Coordinator.

Working with Rape Crisis allows her to work with rape victims and survivors of sexual assault.  This also allows her to educate the community, local hospitals, law enforcement, educators and anyone who listen. Rape is forced, unwanted sexual intercourse. Rape, sometimes also called sexual assault, can happen to both men and women of any age.

Rape is about power, not sex. A rapist uses actual force or violence — or the threat of it — to take control over another human being. Some rapists use drugs to take away a person's ability to fight back. Rape is a crime, whether the person committing it is a stranger, a date, an acquaintance, or a family member. No matter how it happened, rape is frightening and traumatizing. People who have been raped need care, comfort, and a way to heal.

She and her husband Greg are blessed to have two adult children Mitch 32 and Ashleigh 25.

Cashless Society- Are you still investing ?

    in Finance

This point comes when a society goes cashless and the potential for econgularity is at its highest. A singularity is defined as the point in which technological advancement will "radically change human civilization and perhaps even human nature itself." It is impossible to know if this will actually happen, but a cashless society would certainly give governments unprecedented access to information and power over citizens. Currently, we have little evidence to indicate that governments will refrain from using this power. On the contrary, the U.S. government is already using its snooping prowess and big-data manipulation in some frightening ways.

The technological command of the National Security Agency has been widely reported on and does not need repeating here. Suffice it to note, that it would be no challenge for the NSA or certain other government agencies to monitor any company or consumer transaction in real time, if it so desired.

The U.S. government is becoming very fond of seizing money from citizens first and asking questions later via "civil forfeiture." Amazingly, the government is permitted by law to do this even if it is only government staff members who have a suspicion, not proof, of wrongdoing. By seizing a citizen's or a firm's money, the victim/defendant has almost no choice but to settle. A case about civil forfeiture was recently argued in front of the Supreme Court in which the government seized all the money of a tiny family-owned grocery store on the suspicion that it was laundering cash because its cash deposits were below the $10,000 level, an occurrence that triggers a report to the government. By depriving companies and individuals of the cash to defend themselves, even innocent firms are under immense pressure to settle or to plead guilty. To make matters worse, the dramatic consolidation of the banking system has made it easier for the government to acquire information.

    Confucius

Infuse your life with action. Don't wait for it to happen. Make it happen. Make your own future. Make your own hope. Make your own love. And whatever your beliefs, honor your creator, not by passively waiting for grace to come down from upon high, but by doing what you can to make grace happen... yourself, right now, right down here on Earth.

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1004

    in Self Help

SPECIAL TOPIC Night - "Child Abuse, Trauma and 12-Step Recovery" - STEP 3 - SCAN host Bill Murray will be joined by special guest co-host Rivka Edery, MSW, LCSW, from NYC, author of the book “Trauma and Transformation: A 12-Step Guide." Bill founded the recently launched Adult Survivors of Child Abuse Anonymous (ASCAA). Together they will lead tonight's discussion on STEP 3: "Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him." You've worked Steps 1 and 2 with a safe and trusted person. You've surrendered and have demonstrated your willingness to try a new approach to your life experiences. When you admit your powerlessness over your traumatic history, you learn a comforting and critical truth: that you experienced certain painful life events that you absolutely could not have controlled. You weren't always in control of the coping patterns that have emerged. For some survivors, this can be a frightening and humbling experience. (More will be revealed through the 4th and 5th Steps). ~~ A child abuse survivor herself, Rivka Edery is grateful for the spiritual recovery she found in the 12 Steps of AA. She's been active in the 12 Step community for over 17 years. Bill Murray credits his 30 plus years of recovery to the spiritual power of the 12 Step program, too. ~~ Join us every two weeks to further examine a 12 Step approach to recovery from abuse. Next show we'll address STEP 4. ~~ Please see our web page at: www.NAASCA.org/Trauma-12Step or write to Rivka at: rebecca.edery@gmail.com

  • A New Year and another Relapse; Lets Talk Prevention and Intervention!

    in Family

Drug and alcohol rehab statistics show that the percentage of young and old who will relapse after a period of recovery ranges from 50% to 90%. This is a frightening statistic and it is often used as justification for those who wish to carry on with their addiction. What these figures hide is that there are things that the individual can do to greatly increase their chances of sustained sobriety. Those people who are serious about aftercare greatly increase their chances of success. It is most often those who are not adequately supported in recovery that end up returning to their addiction. Many people claim that relapse is a normal part of recovery, but this is just not true. There is absolutely no advantage in continuously relapsing and each time the individual returns to alcohol and drugs they are taking a risk. Those individuals who are in rehab need to adequately prepare for their transition back home. This is a family disease and hopefully the family is involved and has sought recovery themselves and you have a supportive system to go home to. Although, you still need the willingness to do whatever it takes to stay sober, which is a nesessity and very vital to ones recovery. If people are not fully motivated they will struggle to make it through the early months of recovery. It is vital that newly sober people take their aftercare seriously. This could be a choice between life or death. By joining a 12 step group or using some other type of support they will be greatly increasing their chances of success. Join me and special guest speaker Rickie Lynn Harris on this vital topic Friday nite Jan 2nd at 9pm CT as we discuss prevention/intervention, hope and a healthier way of living!! at www.blogtalkradio.com/ritahodges
