The late 1990's and early 2000's is when this all began to take shape. By 2001 Mattrix was a household name in Ulster County, NY and surrounding towns and hamlets. By 2003 he was a seasoned performer boasting a resume` of concerts in multiple states and with national artists before he was even 18 years old. Fast forward a decade and Mattrix is still unsigned but his love for music and talent making it has only grown more polished. As well as working with Fury and his label LW, Mattrix also spent a year or so as the official hype-man for hiphop side project of Coheed & Cambria's drummer; Weerd Science. Recently opening for names such as Bone Thugs N Harmony, Ghostface Killah of Wu-Tang, Lil Wyte, Twiztid, Hopsin and Leathal Wreckords has given rise to a scattered but steady fanbase. EAE RADIO INTERVIEW SPOTLIGHT W/SNAKE TAE HOSTED BY NOEZ NEWTON

    in Hip Hop Music

I grew up in Chicago's Southside in Englewood area, but I was born in Los Angeles CA. I've wrote a lot of poems as a kid and always loved music. I started writing music after poetry in 2008-2009 and mostly freestyling with my family and friends mostly my whole life. I started record me and my people on YouTube. I have my first freestyle on there, my first rap, first video and everything. I wasn't in the studio but I wrote for years. Only people that knew and heard was my family and friends. I felt I wasn't ready to be heard yet. So I just kept writing and my life, struggles, pain, goals, passion, frustration, happiness, my son, my family, the streets, my people, and experiences etc became my music in my years of living. Then I learned and mastered myself and felt it was time now to let the world see, feel and relate to me and my music. But my biggest reason is because of my family my people and my lil brother who died is why I became a artist and push it to the LIMIT! I came up with the name Snake Tae from my family and friends. Snake came from a name I got growing up in the streets of 56 and Normal and threw out the rest of the streets from the gang I was in before and as growing up. And it was just stuck with me in the streets and to my friends. And Tae came from my  family always calling me that and my name Dionte and it's short for Tae, plus that's always how I imagined it spelled as Tae.

EAE RADIO INTERVIEW SPOTLIGHT W/ MR. NEWZ HOSTED BY NOEZ NEWTON

    in Hip Hop Music

Derray Ward, born July 25th, 1988, better known by his stage name MrNewz, is a rapper/song writer. Ward was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He started writing poetry in grade school. Later he decided to try something new, turning one of his poems into a rap song. He quickly grew attached. Regardless of the genre he always loved music from: Blues to Jazz to Rock. He started writing music at the age of 12 but only for the fun of it. He started off “freestyling” at local parties and at school during passing time. He would rap about anything you pointed to or called out. People grew to like him very much. They started asking him when was he going to record a cd or if he was going to become a rapper. He brushed off the questions without thinking about them. Then one day he thought to himself, hey why not! With the lacking of money and materials, he could not afford studio time. So he asked his teacher to borrow a tape recorder. That’s where it all began! He would stay up all night and record tapes full of songs. Although the recorder didn’t offer good sound quality or professionalism, it did not lack lyrics and talent. He would record multiple tapes and pass them out to his peers. They couldn’t get enough. They would ask for more music and challenged him to make songs about many different topics, and he would do just that. In 12th grade challenged himself to join the talent show. He and a fellow classmate remixed 50cent and Game’s “How We Do”. In MrNewz’s verse he incorporated school related information. Such as things he learned in Trigonometry, Chemistry; etc…. Not only did he overcome the challenge of performing for the first time, he impressed his peers and teachers. That’s when he realized he wanted to make music for a living.
