Folks, Frank Shamrock represents the quintessential 'rags to riches' story.
Talking to Frank felt like talking to an old friend. One of the reasons why I chose Frank for our show is because he is a walking personification of what is possible in this world. He went from living off of the streets and spending most of his early life in Jail, to becoming one of the most successful MMA fighters of all time.
Frank teaches us:
What holds most people back in life and how to overcome it
How to create your life's vision and make it become a reality
How to find your passion and draw it forth to fuel your spirit and your life
What it takes to get to the pinnacle of success and why you should care
Frank Shamrock was born Frank Alicio Juarez III on December 8, 1972 at the UCLA Medical Center in Westwood, California.
A sensitive child brought up in a broken family, his early life was filled with violence, poverty and trouble. He became a ward of the State of California at the age of 12 and a prison inmate at 18. By the age of 22, his was a world story.
As a fighter in a sport that started bare-knuckled with limited rules and no weight classes, he earned the nickname, The Legend. A pioneer of modern combat sports he became the world's first UFC Middleweight Champion, the first Mexican American MMA Champion and left the UFC as the four-time undefeated champion following an epic four round battle with the sports' bad boy, Tito Ortiz.
In 2006 he won the first-ever sanctioned MMA fight in California, knocking out family rival Cesar Gracie and set a North American attendance record of 18,265 seats in his hometown of San Jose. He went on to co-promote highly-rated bouts on Showtime Networks and in 2009, his MMA expertise went multimedia, with the publication of the book Mixed Martial Arts For Dummies.
