"Getting It All Done" with Jory Fisher and Julie Fleming

    in Women

Even the most purpose-driven person will, at times, find herself dragging. When you make promises to yourself but don’t keep them, you know you need a dose of something… Motivation? Discipline? Willpower? A stronger vision or purpose? Join Jory and Julie as they discuss what it really takes to accomplish your objectives, especially when those objectives include interim steps that you don’t enjoy but recognize as necessary to achieve your ultimate goal.

Jory and Julie discuss the extent to which willpower is ego-based and what that means for the wisdom of relying on willpower to achieve goals, to extent to which discipline draws on the strength of a higher power and how that helps us bring vision to fruition. We’ll discuss the instances in which each is useful, along with discussing Stephen Pressfield’s concept of Resistance as the key block to purposeful accomplishment.  Finally, Jory and Julie explore how to harness motivation and develop discipline to continue our vision- and purpose-based work even in the midst of significantly competing demands.

Julie A. Fleming, principal of Lex Innova Consulting, helps lawyers and other service professionals to create and implement innovative business development plans. She is the author of three books as well as numerous articles on topics such as business development, practice management, work/life balance, and leadership development. "Give It a Rest" (Jory Fisher & Jennifer Miller)

    in Relationships

It’s not surprising to hear that we are, as a culture, completely stressed out. Technology has made our lives easier, but not any simpler. We can now get twice as much done in the same amount of time. Our schedules are now inundated with commitments, obligations, and expectations. We live in a hamster wheel of perpetual striving. Consider the toll that it takes on your health and well-being, as well as on your relationships.

In this episode, Jory and Jennifer explore this all-too-common problem and consider ways to find some balance. They discuss the idea of a “Sabbath principle” that incorporates rest into your daily or weekly schedule. What are the risks of over-working and what are the benefits of intentionally resting? How can you possibly build rest into your life? Join them as they share how self-care is anything but selfish.

Pastor, counselor, and author Jennifer Miller has dedicated herself to helping people strengthen their faith and their relationships. She currently serves as Co-Executive Director for The Center for Living Well, a faith-based wellness center, and her book “No Longer Two” is now available on Amazon. "Worthy Words" (Jory Fisher & Kim Crabill)

    in Christianity

Let’s put to rest the old lie that “sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me.” Real life teaches otherwise: The words we speak to ourselves and others have real power to hurt us. But the flipside is good news: Words also have tremendous power to heal, to restore hope, to make people feel important and valued. In this episode, Jory and Kim Crabill explore ways to ensure that the influence of our words builds others up rather than tears them down.

Kim Crabill is founder and president of Roses and Rainbows Ministries, Inc., and Community COFFEEs, the author of several books, including Burdens to Blessings, and a nationally known speaker.  For more information about Kim Crabill and her ministries, visit www.rosesandrainbows.org.

Today we have our guest co-host Jo Willette and our guest Shelley Fisher, The Hebrew Hillbilly.

After graduating with honors from Boston University, Shelley completed her graduate work in Fine Arts and Trauma at UCLA, but, she is most proud of her post graduate stint at the  world renowned Cordon Blow School of Hot Cuisine.

She recorded a solo album on Fantasy Records, wrote 'Disgorilla', the sequel to Rick Dee's 'Disco Duck', and scored a vocal hit with 'Wonder Woman' on Road Show Records.

"It's All About the Road Trip" (Jory Fisher and Jennifer Miller)

    in Relationships

Your spiritual walk, or relationship with Christ, can be compared to many different things, but for Jennifer Miller, she uses the metaphor of a road trip to explore how to connect with Jesus. In this episode, Jory and Jennifer discuss her new book, Road Trippin’: A Parable of a Spiritual Journey, and how it can inspire anyone to go deeper into their own relationship with Christ. They explore what it means to grow in faith and integrate it into all areas of your life, including your professional life.

How do you know what God wants you to be doing or how He wants you to be doing it? How do we get on track and stay on track with living a Christ-conscious life? Jory and Jennifer have a lot of fun as they dig deep into what spiritual growth means and discuss what her new book is all about.

Pastor, counselor, and author Jennifer Miller has dedicated herself to helping people strengthen their faith and their relationships. She currently serves as Co-Executive Director for The Center for Living Well, a faith-based wellness center, and her new book “Road Trippin’” is now available on Amazon. "The Church's S-word (Jory Fisher & Jennifer Miller)

    in Women

Yes, the Christian Church has an “s-word” all of its own and it is “submission.” Everyone has some sort of reaction when they encounter that word. It may be positive and it may be challenging, especially with the changing attitudes of our culture. A traditional approach to understanding how men and women relate isn’t always well-received, even within the Christian community. The concept of egalitarianism is actually on the rise within the Church. What does that all mean for both Christian men and women of today?

In this episode, Jory and Jennifer explore and discuss what Jesus said and demonstrated about the role of women in life and ministry during his time on Earth 2,000 years ago and how that translates to living in modern America. What does “submission,” as it is used in Scripture, really mean? How should it look today, for both men and women, in both the home and elsewhere? How can we reconcile tradition, Biblical directives, and our culture?

Pastor, counselor, and author Jennifer Miller has dedicated herself to helping people strengthen their faith and their relationships. She currently serves as Co-Executive Director for The Center for Living Well, a faith-based wellness center, and her book “No Longer Two” is now available on Amazon.
