iBloom Radio W/Host LaDeema Burns W/Guest Elizabeth Utterback the Path Finder

    in Spirituality

I am your Host La Deema Burns with my Co Host Ceyon Brock and Tonya Ratliff on iBloom Radio. Our guest this week is Elizabeth Utterback

Elizabeth is the CEO and Founder of Women Reaching Out. This is an empowerment group for women. She started Women Reaching Out in 2011 because of her work as an Addiction Counselor with Women who were incarcerated. The prison had become like a second home for many of these women.  She realized that these women needed more than a hand out; they needed a guiding hand and support so that they could transition back into society.  These women looked no different than us, many of us who are not behind bars face some of the same issues as these women do. Our bars are not visible but they keep us from being the women that God created us to be. Women Reaching Out is for a woman who is in transition. One of Elizabeth favorite mottos is the only time you should look down on a Sister is when you are extending a hand to help a sister out.

It’s easy in today's world to be overloaded with the darkness and negativity of everyday life, but “the spirit of man is the candle of the Lord”. When we seek to be in God’s light, our life becomes transformed and we begin to produce the fruits that are pleasing to Him. Join us today and find out how you...can “Find the Light”.

My Tribute to Andrae' Crouch; By His Friends & Former FB Admin, Dave Nassaney

    in Christianity

Listen TODAY to speak with Dave Nassaney, former Facebook Administrator to Andrae' Crouch (currently at 81,000 followers) and Andrae's closest friends, to share funny "Andrae' stories" and the good times we all had with him celebrating his zest for life. Podcast now available 24 days/hours/day, 7 days/week. Those who knew him well are missing his beautiful spirit already, and his huge fan base will definitely be missing his timeless new anointed songs and arrangements!

For those of you who had not heard, Andrae' Crouch, The God Father of Contemporary Gospel Music, died at age 72 from complications from Saturday's heart attack. Andrae' was an innovator, a path-finder, a precursor in an industry noted for its conservative, often derivative approach to popular music. He combined gospel and rock, flavored it with jazz and calypso as the mood struck him and the song called for it, and is even one of the founders of what is now called “praise and worship” music. He took risks with his art and was very, very funky when he wanted to be.

When Michael Jackson or Madonna or Quincy Jones needed a gospel song or a gospel chorus, they called Andrae. That’s his music on the soundtrack to The Color Purple (where he earned an Oscar nomination), the Broadway musical The Lion King, and the pop songs “Man in the Middle” and “Like a Prayer.”

His first gospel group included Billy Preston, Elvis recorded one of his songs. Podcast available Jan.14
