Emotional Hoarder
Every week millions of people sit in front of the TV and watch the different series of hoarders on several TV stations. We watch the houses filled with filth and negative emotions connected to the people that live in these houses. We look on with disgust and disdain. However, we failed to realize that we are very similar to those people who pile up mess in their physical homes. We are people who hoard years and years of emotional mess in our minds and hearts. Rome: the city....the best of the Roman world...yet infanticide, extremely strong drug abuse, more than 82 pagan temples within the city, male / female prostitution and mortality due to filth, crime, and disease...Christianity has the solution then and now for peace, joy, and hope.
Cultural settings for the Church in the 1st century..... very much like the cultural setting of the 21st century church.
Roman culture had homosexuality, drug additions, abortions, brutalities, border crossings, police corruption, hundreds of religions, multi-class society and an intolerance for Christianity.
Prostitution, gambling, alcoholism and rampart crime... all this was the culture into which the Church was "born".
